Hi ladies-
I am visiting from BOTB with a question. A friend of mine is pregnant with twins. The issue is she has a family wedding to go to that will be taking place about 2 months after her EDD. I know most likely the twins will come a bit early. The wedding is in Europe. She also has two other kids (under 5).
We were wondering - how early would you (or did you) feel comfortable traveling with your newborn twins? Is she crazy to even try to go overseas with newborn twins (approx 2 months) old (not to mention two other kids)?
We know a lot of this can't be decided in advance because anything could happen, but any thoughts are welcome. Thanks all.
Re: questions for the MOMs
I travel a TON with my twins, but going to Europe with 2 newborns plus 2 other kids would be completely out of the question for me. My grandfather passed away 3 days after my babies turned 2 months.....I chose to go to the funeral alone (we live in Cali and all my family is in PA) while DH and MIL stayed home with the babies. My biggest reason was that I didn't want to expose them to too many germs/illnesses while they were so young. At 3 1/2 months I flew home with them by myself for Christmas.....and they've been on several trips since.
I guess I'm saying that traveling with two babies is definitely possible (and it's actually easier when they are so young because they usually just sleep during the flight).....it's up to the parents to decide if they are comfortable having their babies so exposed to germs, illnesses, etc. at such a young age. I'm not sure when she is due, but if her babies are preemie (many twins are born early) and the wedding is during RSV season, that would be a 100% "no-go."
Yeah, there is NO WAY I would try that, not that young and not that far. Especially since there is a good chance they could be preemies.
