Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Stupid comment from a mom last night...

I went to a GOld party and I was talking to this woman about Ell being 6 weeks early. You know what she had the balls to say to me " Oh well thats not bad,my son was 2 weeks early." WTF are you kidding me biatch! You think not being able to hold my baby and seeing her hooked up to Iv's and  beeping machines is " not bad"....I wanted to throat punch her.

Are people really this stupid?

  • Yowza...  Did you say anything to her?

  • I would have had to tell her there really is no comparison!  2 weeks early isn't early and there is no comparison to anything else in the world the same as seeing your child in the NICU!

  • What does that even mean, "not bad?" I don't get it.
  • I think I was shocked...I just looked at her like WTF? I only replied with Well it could of been worse...But Hello think before you speak people.

I always think of what I should of said after the fact. I hate that...

Yes. Yes they are. I heard a few of those a$$hat comments when Jake was in the NICU for NEC for 24 days. My ML told me that pics of him hooked up to machines didn't count  as 'real' pictures and my mom's friend kept comparing it to her grandson who had to stay an extra day because of jaundice.

    No comparison at all.

  • Unfortuantely, prematurity awareness is severely lacking.  But, to her defense, unless you have actually been there and lived the hell that is the NICU, you could never really understand.

People don't get how hard it is to be in that position, hence the reason they are able to have diarreah of the mouth.

3/22/09 - Lily Grace, born at 33 weeks, 2 days
    9/12/14 - M/C @ 7 weeks, 1 day (ectopic)

Ya my MIL says to me when Ell was little "Oh you can't put those pics up of her hooked up to the wires." I was like why? she said " I don't like them she looks awful! "
