Follow-Up Apt was useless/vent

I had my f/u appointment for my D&C that I had on November 20th and it was so useless.  I go there and get undressed and put the gown over my legs and then the doctor comes in.  He comes in and doesn't even sit down and he says, "Have you had any bleeding today?"  I replied no and he said "Well, everything looks good and I don't need to check you out."  I guess I expected more than that for the appoitment...A little upsetting...Sorry for the vent!

    Yeah, I'd definitely be upset, too. I know that, for our doctors, this experience is pretty everyday.  For us, though, it's not.  Even if he didn't need to examine you he should have at least spoken to you a bit longer to answer questions/find out how you're doing.

    My follow up was pretty much the same. I was really surprised that she didn't do an exam or blood work. Waste of time!

    Oh wow, I'd be frustrated as well. I have my follow up in a couple of weeks, so I'm wondering if this is how mine will go. Thanks for sharing, at least I can prepare myself a bit for it. Yikes.

    Yeah, someone else had posted about their appt going like this. I thought there was no way my dr would like that. Apparently I should have prepared myself too:)

    Errrgh.  That is a waste of time.  He could've asked you that over the phone & at least saved you gas.  Sorry.  :(

    Mine was similar, but at least they didn't make me get undressed! Sorry it was such a disappointment for you. I've decided to find a new doctor.

    Not all appts are like that.  My doctor didn't do an exam either because he asked me several questions and based on the answers, he decided it was unnecessary.  He spent a good 30-45 minutes answering my questions though.  When he walked in the room, he immediately said, "How are you doing?  What can I do for you?  What questions can I answer?"

    I have also had the bad experience with a medicated m/c f/u.  That doctor came in the room and said, "Why are you still so upset?  It wasn't even a baby yet."  So like I said, it can go either way.

    I didn't even have a chance to ask any questions..thats really what I had wanted..He was out the door before I could even ask anything.  I wanted to ask things like, when I get pregant again will there be more appointments or a different agenda since I've had  m/c, can I have sex now, will these headaches ever go away?..and etc!!  After my surgery the nurse said to wait two weeks to go back to sex...I thought he would examine me to see if I was all good down there....I'm assuming I am?

    My f/u appointment for my first m/c was pretty much the same.  I undressed and was expecting some type of an exam and nada, zip, nothing.  The doctor asked me about 2 questions and offered 20 seconds of advice and the appointment was over.  This just cemented my decision to find another OBGYN for my next pregnancy and I did.  I love my new OBGYN.  She was incredibly compassionate and attentive to my questions when I had my second m/c.   So glad I found her.
    5 ANGELS IN HEAVEN ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -> miss m/c discovered on 4/6/09 at 9wks 3 days ( measured 6wks 1day ) m/c on 4/15/09 -> natural m/c on 8/27/09 at 8wks 1 day -> miss m/c discovered on 5/27/10 at 8wks 3 days ( measured 8wks ) m/c on 6/15/10 -> natural m/c on 1/27/11 at 10wks 3days -> natural m/c on 3/12/12 at 7wks ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I had a very different experience. The dr did do an exam, which did go pretty quick and then once I got dressed we actually went into his office and talked for awhile and DH and I asked a bunch of questions and the dr gave us the results of the chromosome testing.

    Every dr and office is different. maybe you would want to find a different office?
