2nd Trimester

Liars: A pregnant rant

Women who say they loved every second of pregnancy are liars.  Who loves indigestion?  I have to eat like I just had gastric bypass surgery.  The gas is ridiculous.  I can't eat dinner anymore, because I might fart my husband awake or have to sleep sitting up.   I know it's only going to get more uncomfortable, but I miss eating.
How are you feeling/doing/experiencing this miracle of growing a life inside of you?

Re: Liars: A pregnant rant

  • Oh I'm with you.  I love my LO, but being pregnant sucks!  The food situation is horrific!

  • I think my hubby almost threw up last night due to my gas.  Sorry hubbs...
  • The pregnancy hasn't really impacted me yet (knock on wood).  I didn't get morning sickness (though I was really exhusted for a couple hours in the afternoons) and no issues in this second trimester so far.  I'm sure something horrible will come up though--because I'm a pessimist so it has to.

  • I love being pregnant simply because I love the experience of LO being with me all the time and sharing this experience with DH and family.  That being said:

--I'm on modified bedrest due to herniated disks in my back from throwing up so much with morning sickness.  So not only did I t/u an unreasonable amount for much of my preg already, but now my freaking back hurts and I might have to have surgery.  I also can't walk far, pick up my nieces or nephews or do anything that involves standing.

--I get horrible constipation.  I never knew something like this existed.  It really feels like I'm going to die when I finally can work it out.

--The heartburn feels like there's a dragon in my chest and it gets so bad I cough and throw-up.  WTF!  And I've been sick for the last 3wks with what they "thought" was a sinus infection.  They put me on anti-biotics where I couldn't take anti-acids, so it was much worse.  Now I have to go back in tomorrow cause I'm still sick and they think it's pneumonia.  again, WTF!

--I would love to sleep through the night without 10 pee breaks....please...

Ok, rant done.  Sorry about that, but I've been feeling nasty all night and apparently needed to get that out....doesn't help I just talked with one of my friends who "loves pregnancy" and always "feels great".  Yuck...

  • i'm sorry but your post made me laugh. I also can't stand being pregnant but thank goodness i don't get this 'pregnancy gas' that people talk about.
  • Regarding the constipation, Milk of Magnesia saved my life.  It honestly felt like my insides weren't fitting inside my body anymore.  Now, all better.

I've had to use it (one time I didn't "go" for a week and a half) but it makes me really sick....like super cramping and running to the bathroom constantly for 2 days.  Sorry, I know it's TMI....gotta love what happens to us lucky ladies!!  Now I just try and keep an eye on my diet and eat lots of fruit and fiber!!

  • I've loved my pregnancy so far, only down side was I had to quit my Starbucks addiction in first tri (first because it was making me throw up, then I found out I'm pregnant so I quit for the LO). I don't drink Starbucks anymore but I do have a cup of coffee to get me going in the morning (only started that after getting a specific OK from my doc to do so lol)
  • I puked the entire first trimester, sometimes all throughout the day and felt awful. Food aversions, nothing sounded good, anything put into my stomach wanted to come back up, problems with prenatal vitamins, extreme fatigue, smells turning my stomach...11-12 weeks was a blessing for me, and I very rarely get sick. I consider myself lucky though that I rarely have gas, and have yet to experience the horrid constipation I hear about.

I think it's nearly impossible for a woman to enjoy EVERY minute of pregnancy. Enjoying the growing life inside of you is much different than enjoying constipation and gas.

  • I have been really lucky and have had a really easy pregnancy so far.  I didn't get morning sickness at all.  I just started getting heart burn but it's not that bad.  I do get constipated and my back often hurts but again nothing that makes me too miserable.  I am one of the lucky ones but so was my Mom and sister with their pregnancies.
  • My friend is always so excited and happy about her pregnancy, less so about the LO if that makes any sense? She is strange to me..Anywho, onto my rantttt..

Ya, I've had non stop nausea from the beginning, and still do. I've had every symptom in the book, and to top it off. I might have to have surgery because of a stupid cyst, that now has me going to the doctors multiple times in a week. As well as adding to my pill regime with Antibiotics and a cream. I have to see a surgeon AND a specialist, and my normal doctor...And the baby doctor. LOL, And in between that and frequent trips to the emerge for any infection..I feel your pain?

    Literally.

  • LOL!!! You are funny! I do love being pregnant when I have a big belly :) and no morning sickness
  • I completely agree.  I practically hate being pregnant, but I love having my babies.  Am I greatful to be pregnant because of the result? Sure!

But I don't like gaining weight, I don't like my changing body, I don't like nausea, heartburn or exhaustion.

  • I swear I'm not lying! I had a wonderful time my last pregnancy, and <fingers crossed> things have been so far/so good with this one too.

I'm sorry your prenatal tooting has become such an issue - hopefully it gets better soon Big Smile

  • Actually I do love the good and the bad because my husband and I weren't supposed to be able to have children on our own. Then again I'm a freak of nature so yeah.
  • There are always going to be moments or symptoms that suck, but its worth every second when you feel lo move or you look in the mirror to see how much bigger you have gotten... I love every minute of growing my little girl ...
  • I guess I'm one of the liars.  Yes, my body has become a bit more crass and unpleasant at times, but after 17 m/c's I am happy to be experiencing every minute of it.  I don't even mind throwing up, unpleasant but again I feel happy to have those pregnancy symptoms.

  • Yeah....I agree, being pregnant sucks!!!! I am thrilled about having her but I could so do with out all the pains and horribleness!!!  I don;t even really enjoy feeling her move because it feels to much like gas and I just want it to stop!!

This.  Honestly, accept for some fatigue and a few aches and pains I've had an amazing 22 weeks so far!  I hope it stays that way LOL.

  • Not everyone has symptoms. I haven't.

    I've only had two downsides.

    a) my boobs have grown (which for someone with big boobs is not good)

    b) I can't take my adderall.

I wouldn't say I've "Loved every momement" but you also can't assume that everyone's pregnancy is like yours.
