Angelcare Deluxe Movement Monitor

Does anyone have this monitor, or have any good/bad experience with it? I want to buy the best monitor I can find for a reasonable amount but it's kind of hard to tell how good it is until you actually have a baby.

I know many people have the two-way radio type of baby monitor, but I am far too paranoid for that since I live in a split level home.

Re: Angelcare Deluxe Movement Monitor

  • I love it, def puts my mind at ease. Altho I had a few false alarms in the beginning but we just changed the sensitivity. I recommend it!

  • Has the alarm ever gone off for a good reason? I guess the thought just really scares me...but I'd rather be aware than not.
  • this is the one we have and it's amazing! I love it and wouldn't have it any other way, it is worth the peace of mind! I like having the digital temperature reading too because I was always paranoid that the room would be too hot or too cold, there's been a handful of times where the temp will all of a sudden read 78 degrees and I have to go in there and turn the ceiling fan on, I would never have known without the monitor.

I also like being able to look across the room and see the movement indicator blinking so I know he's breathing, even when the alarm isn't going off I still get paranoid.

  • I have the Sound Only one, and I love it. Clear sounds, and is also sound activated so we dont hear a hummmmm unless she's making noise. I would recommend at least the sound one. Unless your LO has trouble breathing, I wouldnt bother with the movement one - it's more likely to cause worry than anything.

  • we've never had it alarm and we've never had any false alarms either but I know it works because every time I get up with him in the middle of the night I pick him up and forget to turn the monitor off and it starts beeping like crazy 10 seconds later. It never fails, I'll be halfway down the hallway to get a bottle and the thing goes off, but that's fine with me, glad to know it's working!

  • I don't have the deluxe monitor but I do have the "regular" angelcare movement monitor and I LOVE it. It has allowed me to sleep so much better at night. We have had a few false alarms but we just had to turn up the sensitivity on it, no big deal. The sound is very clear, I can still hear DS breathing even when he's in the deepest sleep. I am so glad I bought it.

  • We have it and really like it so far. We have had a few false alarms like PPs have said but no biggie. They have mostly occured if DS has moved himself over to the side of the crib so it can't sense him anymore. I just move him back towards the middle and we are good to go. Also, since I don't have any experience w/ other moitors  I don't know how it compares but I feel like a battery on the receivers lasts a really long time between charging.
  • This is the one baby product I would not live without. I love it so much, I bought another one for DS2 because DS1 still uses the sound on his monitor. DS1 was a preemie and a tummy sleeper, and had I not had this monitor, I never would have gotten any sleep. For what it's worth, we did have a "real" alarm with DS1, too. He stopped breathing for a few seconds and the alarm went off. When DH ran in to the nursery, DS1 took a huge breath and DH realized that he had forgotten to breathe.  I hate to speculate what might have happened, but who knows.

I've bought this monitor as a shower gift for my closest friends when they've had their babies.  It's the best thing I can give them and might save their child's life.
