kick count question

ok this may be a dumb one - my dr told me not to go nuts with the kick couting, just make sure they are moving consitently.  I am trying to count anyway because I am totally type a and I figure it would be easier for me to have numbers - a lot of the books say 10 movements in 2 hours and my dr. said similiar when I did ask him how many is "normal"  he said 10 in an hour.  here is the dumb part - I am looking for more like 20 with twins lol?  honestly.  I can't really tell them apart at this point to see who is kicking me where.  TIA

Re: kick count question

  • I quit counting kicks about 2 weeks ago. I can't tell who is who anymore. I told my doctor and the midwife and they said kick counting is more for my peace of mind.

In the morning, afternoon, and at night, I try to lay still and make sure that I feel movement everywhere. I know A is really low and B is really high, so as long as I feel movement throughout the day from those areas, I don't worry.

  • I dont do much kick counting, my babies are so active that my whole tummy moves around but on days when they are less active or I am looking for peace of mind, I drink something cold and lay on my side and put both hands on the areas of my tummy where I know A and then B are located.  I look for movements from both of them but again, I dont really count to 10- just look for movements that I am pretty sure would be A and then pretty sure would be B.

  • i never really did kick counts, just kept myself aware of movement and if that level changed then i would stop and maybe count for a while. i would get like 5 kicks in 5 minuets and stop figuring we would get to 10 well before an hour passed. and some days they were less active then others, but again that was normal for them. as long as you are aware and there is no change from your norm thats whats most important.
