Ball pit or tool workbench??

If you could choose just one of these for your LO for Christmas, which would you choose and why?

We have already bought our DS a few things but I want to get one more "big" thing, but I can't decide. If your LO has one of these do they play with it a lot or no??

    The ball pit was a huge hit at our house.  I finally deflated it to make room for a slide, but he loved it.  I will set it up again when we get the basement cleared out.

    Definitely the ball pit! We've had it for a good two months and DS still plays with it every day!! We can also use it to play peek a boo and "come get me"

    I would go for the tool bench.  Maybe that's just because M has a limited interest in ball pits but I know that she could be kept occupied with the workbench for a while.

    Instead of buying a ball pit, fill an small, inflatable baby pool with about 300 balls.  Cheaper that way.

    Then, check craigslist for a nice, used workbench!

    My mom is in town and just bought a package of the balls and we dumped them in her PnP this morning. She had a blast (balls are her favorite thing right now...) and we didn't have to buy the pit- some of them seem a little shallow and I could see balls going everywhere. But anyway, that's an idea.

    Well, would you rather clean up some scattered tools or a bajillion balls all day long? LOL. That's my reason for never doing the ball pit. DS would toss balls in every corner of the house.
