Babies: 9 - 12 Months

How did you ladies lose weight?

I'd like to lose about 15lbs and I'm not sure how to go about it. I already eat  healthy but I don't have much of a chance to exercise . How did you lose your pregnancy weight or just pounds in general?

Re: How did you ladies lose weight?

  • What do you mean lose? it found me and refuses to let go. Lol

Now I'll never get it to leave after this baby.

  • I did 30 day shred i know you said you don't have time to workout.. but it is only 25 mins so i thought i would throw it out there.. GL
  • OMG I did 1 day of the 30 day shred and it freaking killed me. It was like working out at the gym x 10. I have it I just hate it. If I stick to it will it really work?
  • I haven't lost all the baby weight (I have about 10lb to go but honestly I haven't really tried), but before I got pg I was on the South Beach Diet for about a year, and it worked really well; I lost about 20lb.  Right now I'm just in "grab & go" mode, so it's pretty hard to be on a diet.

ETA:  It didn't take a year to lose the 20lb, it took about 3 months.  But I stayed on the diet (in maintenance mode) for a year.

  • BFing and walking up and down 2 flights of stairs to get from my front door to the main floor (3 flights if going to our bedrooms) while hauling an 18 lbs squirmy baby :)

  • I started with turbo jam, yoga, weight training and then back to running.  lots of running. Getting done is the challenge.  Typically work out before work when T is still asleep, at night when he goes down, and on weekend when DH will watch him during my long run.

I eat healthy, but tracking it every day on my iphone really helped me manage portion and wasted calories.

  • I did a 90 day diet of nothing but fresh foods. If you can't hunt it, pick it, grow it or catch it then you couldn't eat it. I also followed portion sizes carefully and ate every 3 hours. The first few days were awful but now I can't imagine not doing it. I shed about 28 lbs. in 90 days. I hit the gym 4-5 times a week too and drank a gallon on water everyday. I tracked everything on sparkpeople.com to keep it organized. Now I follow the diet loosely and am maintaining my pre-pregnancy weight. Once I am done BFing I am going to hit it all hardcore and try to lean out.
  • Eat plenty of protein. It lasts longer--not hungry as quickly--and is healthy and generally lean.

I had turkey sandwiches a LOT right after DS was born. It helped a ton.

Measure everything to make sure you KNOW how much you're eating.

Also, go to www.fitday.com to track everything. It's simple. It is really easy to add up the calories with things you don't think of, like adding mayo to sandwiches and things like that.

  • I did weight watchers and loved it.  Lost 15 lbs. in 4 months - a bit alow but these will lbs. not come back!  Now I've fallen of my WW wagon a bit - I still have 10 to go (and 15 if I really want to get where I should be) and I plan to start again hardcore in Jan.  I also do wii active in the morning before DD wakes up.  Or at least, that is the plan come Jan. :)
