Had my (hopefully last) appointment with the midwife today. I'm "due" on Thursday, but at each appointment she automatically books another for the week ahead. She said if I haven't had the baby over the weekend and 'would like an internal' at my appointment next Monday, she can do a membrane sweep if I want.
Now A) I've never had an internal up to this point (they're not routine in the UK and only offered after you pass your due date), and
I don't know if I want a membrane sweep or not. Who knows...I may be gagging for one by next week...
Any reasons why I may or may not want one? (Boo for having to make up my own mind)
Re: Membrane Sweep...Do I Want One??
With my last pregnancy my doctor told me she doesn't do them. She said they're painful, they make you bleed and cramp, and way more often then not they don't trigger labor b/c your body isn't ready.
I'm having it done tomorrow. My dr. offered to do it Thursday at my appointment but I declined after he said I was 3cm and 70% and he was sure I'd go into labor that night or the next day. Nerves got the best of me, but I told him if I didn't go into labor on my own by the next appointment we would do it then....so...tomorrow it is!
