So some of you may have read my pp about Stella's issues with gas, fussiness and reflux. I'm beyond frustrated with BF right now and I would seriously like to stop, while I won't I just don't know what and how to do it!
She's now having problems with hindmilk/foremilk because her poop is green. I just don't get it. I'm doing what the doctor said. Feed one breast every 2-3 hours. Only pump for a few minutes to relieve pressue if necessary on the breast that I didn't feed off of. What do I do now with the hind/fore issue? I'm going to call my LC tomorrow, but I'm at a loss.
How and when am I supposed to pump in order to freeze for when I go back to work? Is this totally out of the question now since I have an oversupply and I'm trying to get it back on track?
Re: BF Issues: So Frustrated!
When I was having oversupply and hindmilk/foremilk issues I fed on demand and only fed off one side per feeding. If it had been an hour or less since the last feeding I offered the same breast, more than an hour and I offered the next. I only had to do this for a week or two to get things on track.
Is it possible that sticking to a feeding schedule would make her nurse more vigorously and wind up making things worse?
Also not a bf expert but once in awhile DD had green poo too - I think some people have said it can be from something mom ate not just an balance issue.
Probably once you get her eating well and on track you can work on building your supply back up to get enough to pump and store.
The green poo could defiinitely be a sign of food intolerance. If you do have a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance it can help to cut back on or eliminate dairy until it is under control.
Sorry that you are having trouble. I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll say it many more times but being a new mom is freaking hard enough without having boob problems!
I hope that your LC can give you some good advice but if you want to talk to another one, I have the BEST LC. She has an independent company in Bloomington but she would totally help you out over the phone too. I seriously think that she is the only reason that I didn't give up BFing in the first few weeks when I couldn't get my oversupply under control. Let me know if you want her info. I seriously could not more highly recommend this woman!
Jake went through a bought of green poo for about 6 weeks. I gave up dairy and just fed from one boob at each feeding. But my doctor told me not to obsess over the poop color. He said it was caused by a change of flora in his digestive system. It eventually went away when I started supplementing with formula.
Hang in there, I know bf can be so hard!
Another comment about poop - my pedi said not to be concerned unless their poop is black, white or red. I asked her about the green poop/hindmilk and foremilk issue and she reassured me that as long as he was gaining weight as he should it was fine.
I'm fullest in the morning, so I started to pump immediately after feeding the first time in the am (6 or 7). It was enough to start banking and now we have TONS. I'm keeping up much better with his daily demands than I did with DS #1.

Another poo comment... is it "frothy" or have mucous in it? If not, don't worry too much. Also I think you'll have to give it some time to correct.
With pumping and creating a stash, by virtue of pumping add'l milk, you will be creating an oversupply. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I think the best thing to do is pump at a regular time every day - it's just another feeding to the body. Morning seems to be best for most moms.
If you aren't doing that extra pumping session, try not to pump that other breast while block feeding - hand express and/or use a hot compress to relieve pressure. Pumping stimulates it and will make it worse.
Things will get better! You are doing great!
