Provided that your baby has nursed long enough for a feeding, if he/she falls asleep at the breast, do you ever skip the burping and just lay him/her down? If so, does an air bubble ever come back to bite you? (Short nap/sleep stretch due to being uncomfortable, gas, spit up during sleep)

my LO always falls asleep with his head to the side so i'm not so worried about burping him after he falls asleep b/c if anything should come up, it will come out -if you're LO sleeps facing up -i would burp him just in case something should come back out (for choking purpose)..
There have been times where i do burp him and then lay him down -most times he likes it and sleeps right through it.
