3rd Trimester

Sticking my tongue out... (re: tattoos)

and saying "ha ha ha ha... you were wronggggggg!" to everyone who told me that getting a tattoo on my side was a bad choice because it was sure to stretch out and look like a mess when I got pregnant.

It still looks exactly the same with only a month or so to go, thank you very much. You can kind of see it in the photo below.

Any other ladies with tattoos have them fair much better than you expected during your pregnancy?

  • What a great and colorful picture!

  • Wow how many wardrobe changes did you do on the day of your maternity photo shoot? Did you do it over a span of few days?
  • None of mine are really in stretchy places but glad yours worked out!
  • I have one on my left hip and I forgot about it until the other day and I was surprised that it hasn't stretched.  It's nice that i don't have to worry about it becoming deformed
  • Thats great...but do you think you might have just jynxed yourself? I know a couple women who were in the same boat, their tattoos looked great all through the pregnancy. One month post-partum and BAM ugly globs of nothingness were all that was left...
  • Great picture, awesome outfit, and i don't have any tattoos. But yours looks great!

  • none of mine are in stretchable areas, but one of my gf's had one on her lower stomach and it definitely took a beating.

  • I have no tattoos... All I have is a birthmark on my lower back. My two most common questions (the latter from bedrest of course) are "Did you get a tatto removed?" and "Is that a bed sore?" Um. No. God just gave me a target for the epidural. Hahaha....

    Glad your tattoo hasn't stretched!

  • As of right now the tattoo that stretches from hip to hip, and the one that covers my entire right side look like they are in pretty decent shape.  Trust me, when LO pops out, I can't wait to do the "Haha You Were Wrong" Happy Dance!

  • I have one on my tummy/side and so far so good.

  • haha, mine are fine too. I have one low on my sternum and one on each hip. Neither has stretched yet. We'll see...! I love my tatoos but would be fine if they stretch a bit. No big deal

bahahaha. When the photographer showed up I already had locations and three outfit changes planned (including ones for my DH) - she just laughed and was like..." geee, are you a planner or what?"

It took us about 3 hours of shooting (and changing clothes in the back of a car while we drove all over San Francisco) - but we manage to capture all three of the "looks" I had in mind.

(shakes head at how silly that sounds)

I think being pregnant has made me a bit crazy.

  • Totally possible!

I may be tucking my tail and admitting defeat in the next few months. Wink

I think that's great! I am the same way...maybe not 3 but at least 2 wardrobe changes! LOL I just wasn't sure if there were going to be anymore surprises as far as your photos go! They are all awesome btw!

That's why I am super excited to have my sister doing some pics outdoors! and another photographer doing the inside shots. I am going to have so many shots in different outfits that I am not going to know what to do with them all!

BTW since you are into all into photography as I am....I am planning on doing some outdoor photos and I am thinking about wearing black or brown or even white....It's snows a lot here and I am looking for some inspiration on poses and ideas for shots that still show that the photos are maternity photos.

  • I have one covering my back from my bra to my pants and wrapping around both of my sides.  It has not stretched one bit and really looks exactly the same as it did pre-pregnancy.

And your photos are stunning.  You are just beautiful!

    ...
  • I have one on the back of my hip (above my butt) on the left side. I thought it would stretch weird or that I'd get weird stretchies there. It actually still looks great!

  • Mine's on my right thigh & it hasn't been affected at all. My navel piercing is still in, too - the piercing hole itself hasn't changed at all yet, but my belly button is getting a little bit shallow and more oblong horizontally. I'm keeping it in until we're on our way to L&D.
  • thankfully yes! I have one next to my hip bone that I thought for sure would stretch like crazy, but its low enough and over far enough that it seems to be about the same size. but its funny b/c now its completely facing downward b/c my belly. We'll see for sure once my belly is gone if it actually is ok.
  • My sister has a tattoo on her side and it looked fine until AFTER the baby was born so don't be surprised if it changes when your skin loosens up.

  • I have a cross on my lower left part of my stomach and I thought for sure it would stretch a lot but so far so good!!
