We adopted a dog pip

We figured we would go to an animal shelter instead of a pet store. This was my first time in a animal shelter. The first dog we picked out was already adopted. Then I saw a dog that has been there for almost two months. He was just laying there not barking. I walked up to him and he licked my hand I knew he was ours. He was matted so bad they had to cut them out, his fur is cut in so many different ways he is also half shaved on one side. He was shivering. I started crying when I saw him knowing he deserved a good home When we got home we gave him a bath I couldn?t believe how dirty he was . We got him a rubber chicken toy they he hasn?t put down since. We decided since the cold weather is coming he needs to keep warm, so we got him some sweaters. He is so sweat plays fetch and just lays by you. o yea we named him Benji I could go on forever but if you made it this far thanks , next time you are looking for an animal please go to a shelter.

My dog growing up was a shelter dog. He was the best dog ever! I volunteered at the Humane Society in High school, and my daughter and I go shopping twice a year for stuff to donate. Just simple things like collars, toys, treats. It makes a big difference because they can use their cash donations for medical care for the animals instead of things like that.

Our doggy came from a shelter too. Even now I still look at her and can't belive someone "threw" her away and that she was scheduled to be put to sleep simply bc of overcrowding. Your new addition is quite cute!

Thank you for adopting!!! There are so many animals in need of a good home. Benji is adorable....and he will love you til the day he dies. BTW, as a co-terrier-adopter, they're kinda psycho at times with energy and lack of attention span...but they're complete loves.

Yay! Shelter animals are the best, and mutts tend to be healthier than pure-breds anyway. Not to mention, you saved a life! He's very cute too.

Bless you and your family for making a dogs wish come true. We have two rescue dogs and both are my babies, our youngest was so badly neglected, matted hair, over grown nails so sad. She looked like a brown ball of dirty fur with no face. But look a her today!
