I'm just curious -- I forgot to talk about exercising at my first doctor's appointment. I've done 3 marathons, one of them was at 7 weeks with this pregnancy. Now my longest distance is about 8 miles and I run around 25-30 miles a week (my runs range from about 4-8 miles in distance). I feel fine and I'm sure when I bring it up with my doctor I'll be okayed to keep running, but I'm just wondering how far everyone else is going. Thanks in advance!
Re: Marathon Runners -- How far are you running now?
Wow, do/did you take bathroom breaks throughout? That's my number one running pain, ugh!
I ran a 1/2 marathon yesterday. It was my third one this pregnancy.
My weekly mileage is a bit inconsistent, and my pace is slower. I'm running or run/ walking no more than 20 miles a week.
I've run 4 marathons and plan to do more in the future. For me, it is harder running after giving birth than it was while I was pregnant. I'm just now back up to 20 miles per week and my pace is so slow. I'm worried I'll never PR again but I'm not giving up.
I ran until I was 36 weeks pregnant and then my hips simply wouldn't allow it anymore.
I ran a marathon at 25 weeks pregnant and a half marathon distance the weekend before I gave birth. I continued my weekly mileage of 55-60 miles until 30 weeks, then scaled down to about 40 miles per week.
I ran my first post pregnancy marathon 2 months after giving birth and it was actually a lot easier than before the pregnancy. I felt great and was faster than before.
I have 14 marathons under my belt but was never a high mileage runner. I usually put in 40-45 miles/week during marathon training season, with a lot of emphasis on speedwork and tempo runs to get my pace up there. I'm 29 weeks now and am down to 20 miles/week, 4 days/week. I ran a half marathon at 19 weeks and felt great, but after that, decided that a nice slacker 20 miles/week routine was just fine
I feel great and don't feel any signs that I'll need to stop running. I haven't gotten very big and I don't have any of the usual aches and pains - e.g., no pelvic floor pain, etc. The belly doesn't really bounce when I'm running. So knock on wood, I'm guessing I'll keep up my wimpy 20 mile/week routine through delivery.
I sure do feel like a wimp with such low mileage, though!!
