Just some future shopping for LO - anyone thinking of getting a walker? If so, which one are you getting? I was curious about them - DS is definitely not ready for one yet, but wondering if this is something to consider in the months ahead.

Re: Researching: Anyone thinking of getting a walker?
My mom is a PT and if I decided to get a walker she might disown me.
I don't think I would anyway, I personally don't think they are even remotely safe.
If you're talking sit-in walker, absolutely not. I've read too many stories about injuries and developmental delays they can cause. Baby Bargains also highly advises against them.
If you mean the push walkers, we might get one once he's able to pull himself up and begins "traveling."

Same here - my high school buddy's son loves his - am just not quite sure on it.
Walkers, Jumpers, Exersaucers "technically" they are all bad... but i used a walker and so did my sisters and we were all just fine...
there are alot of neck injuries with the jumpers and exersaucers as well as hip injuries...and alot of the stuff that can be prevented with walkers such as falling down stairs is just that preventable... if i had more hard surface i would probably get it.. my friends granddaughter LOVES hers....
I think I had a walker too! I was a klutzy child, so I can imagine the white hairs sprouting on my care giver.
I'm an OT and I think they would take my license away if I got one. Not really, but you get my drift! So, no, we're not getting one for various reasons.
We do have a push walker thingy. But not one of the traditional walkers that they sit in.
We'll get a new "push" walker, but not one of the one's they sit in.... "Sit-in" walkers are banned in Canada, anyway due to the potential hazards they present to baby....
Same.
My best friend, who is a pedi, told me that babies who use walkers actually tend to walk on their own later because they often learn to walk on their tip toes in the walker. This messes with leg muscle development and makes them less stable when they try to walk.
