My Rott headbutted my stomach

Thankfully I was able to back up enough that he didn't jump up on me but he ended up accidentally headbutting me.  That dog easily weighs 80lbs (he's a small Rott) and packs a punch.  It hurt pretty bad.  I'm always so paranoid that one of the dogs is going to hurt the baby by jumping on me...even though I know he/she is very well padded.

I'm kinda crampy but I'm hoping it's just gas.  Oh this is probably such a stupid question...but would you be worried?  I'm sure I'm fine and I'm being ridiculous.

  • don't worry southern, i'm sure it's fine.  dogs are sometimes so much rougher than they realize!!  hope the cramping goes away, but i'm betting that is much more simply psyching yourself out, KWIM?  try to just relax and see if it goes away.  Smile

  • You aren't being ridiculous, I get worried about that stuff too.  But I am sure the baby is fine.  It is well protected in there :)  Also, whenever something like that happens to me, I think about the fact that the dr. presses pretty hard when he is using the doppler and when I had the ultrasound, the tech was pressing pretty hard as well.  And that ends up being fine :)

  • I think I would be worried too.  I always was when I bumped my stomach into things.  I am sure you are fine though! Go put your feet up for a little bit :)

Sorry about that, though. My coonhound is huge. She's well over 100 lbs. I used to let my dogs jump up on me to pet them, but had to retrain her when I got pregnant with DD. That was fun.

  • We have a decent sized pittie and he did that to me several times while I was pregnant with DD. They just don't understand that they can't jump up and give us hugs. WinkI'm sure everything is fine with the baby.

  • I spent the majority of my pregnancy being worried when I bumped into things with my belly (I did it a lot), so I don't think you're being silly. But, I'm sure everything's fine. The crampy feeling is probably coming from being anxious and tensing up a bit. Just sit down and try to relax - I'm sure you'll feel better soon.
