BFN...purely injection meds...how bad is it going to be?

Well, my fluke absence of a period turned out to be just that.  [i have excessive menstruation so not having a period since being off from BC last december was unusual and we were on a break from cycling with the RE and were hoping things may have started to regulate and maybe a miracle happened].

Went into RE this a.m. to have beta to be sure and I was still hopeful.  But it was a negative and they said I didn't even ovulate...wonderful :(

So now we are onto injection meds for everything for our next cycle (once AF shows up)...any advice? What meds will they be giving me?

  • you will most likely use either gonal f or follistem with an ovidrel trigger. i found it much "easier" than clomid in terms of side effects. good luck!

  • Thanks, that is reassuring. I've used the ovidrel trigger and that wasn't that bad...I had so many side effects of all the other meds in the past.  My body (skin, breasts, hair) was so out of whack during my previous cycles that but it is a price I will pay for a chance to have our dream...

It is just not fair that all of us need to go through this....IF sucks!

  • i just finished a follistim cycle. It was cake. It only sounds scary I promise. The microfine needles don't hurt at all.

    GL to you!

  • i've done two full injectable/iui cycles.  the shots arent bad at all.  I went completely insane on clomid and had no side effects with the gonal-f shots.  i found that the 75 IU vials burned going in, but the 450 IU didnt hurt at all.  you will be fine!!

This. On the lower dose I used during IUI cycles I didn't really have any side effects at all. Good luck!
