I was just prescribed once-weekly shots of 17P to hopefully keep my twins in as long as possible. I have never heard of this before and that devil - google - has me confused as it says no evidence it helps multiples, only singles.
I am also starting a home monitor, which is fine, I just feel fine right now and am kind of upset I have to do these shots ( I already did 10weeks of prog. shots at the beginning of the PG due to the IVF)
Any previous experiences would be so helpful - thanks in advance!![]()
Re: Anyone take 17P Progesterone shots to prevent PTL during their multilple PG?
Are you having any signs of preterm labor, like cervical funneling/shortening/dilation, contractions, etc?
My OB doesn't do them as long as things are going well, but OBs and MFMs are all so different in their preferences.
I'm sorry you have to do more shots, especially after you had to do PIO and all your IVF shots!
I just started min last week for being extremely high-risk for preterm labor. Unfortunantly my MFM said exactly what you read on Google. He said there is no evidence that progesterone helps in a twin pregnancy. He also said that they have only done the study on second time moms who previously experienced pre-term labor so that they could compare it to something. He thinks that its well worth a shot though and can't hurt whatsoever and I agree. I know they hurt a bit, but its only once a week and may help!
Did your dr tell you about injecting them the "z-track" way? My nurse said when people don't do it this way it can create a bad welp and hurt more.
