Quick question...

I have been having something difficulty catching my breath/ breathing if I am laying down or leaning back too far when in the recliner. I have just been assuming since the uterus is so big (measuring over 43 weeks) and the weight of the babies pressing up, that this is a normal occurrence.Everything else has been great including my blood pressures.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, was there anything you did that seemed to help more?

  • I experience the same thing, and attribute it to the same cause. I can't lie on my back without feeling like I'm going to pass out after about 2 minutes, which is from the vena cava being compressed.

I either have to sit up on the couch, sit in the recliner (which is nice since I can somewhat recline and put my feet up, but not too much), or put a pillow under one hip to lie on the couch so I don't go too far on my back.

  • I get out of breath pretty easily - I'm always breathing heavily by the time I get back in bed after a bathroom break! I have found that propping myself up more on pillows when I'm in bed helps. Even lying flat on my side isn't comfy.

  • oh yes!  I've had a hard time breathing most of the time lately.  Sometimes it gets worst after eating or laying on my back or sitting up with any kind of pressure on my back.  Sometimes it almost makes me panic because I can't seem to get enough air.  I think its normal at this stage.
  • Thank you for your replies. It sucks that we are all having this but it is nice to know that it seems fairly common and nothing to really be concerned about. The propping up is the only thing that has seemed to ease it at all, so I suppose that will just be part of the routine until these little guys come out.
