2nd Trimester

I can't stand up for longer than 15 minutes without feeling like I'm going to pass out...

I'm 15 1/2 weeks and I am having a really hard time with getting light headed VERY easily. I can't stand for longer than 15 minutes without having to sit down and a lot of the time sitting isn't enough... I have to lie down or else I know I will pass out. It's really scary. I'm drinking tons of water and eating as much as I can but I still seem to have low blood pressure. I've added Iron and B-12 supplement on top of my Raw Prenatals but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so, how do you deal with it on a day to day basis????

  • When you stand are you bending your knees any? In weeks 14 and 15 I would get very very lightheaded when standing, especially if I locked my knees which can hinder circulation. It has gotten much better :)

  • I tend to feel lightheaded if I am standing in one place for too long. If I am moving, I am ok. So, if I'm not sitting, I try to keep my feet moving.

Otherwise, just rest when you can! And def let your doctor know that you feel this way!!

  • I almost passed out during CPR training today so I quickly sat down on the floor and I felt better immediately... l have to start paying better attention to my body (I think I just overheated)!

  • I know exactly what you're going through... I fainted at 10 weeks and was told it was due to low blood pressure... after seeing the doc every other week for a month I was told it is probably going to last my entire pregnancy.. this is my second and I did NOT have this with DD... I'm 15 weeks today and am on limited bed rest and not alowed to drive (because I get light headed sitting too) I've fainted now a total of three times and it does suck... but some days are better than others.. my doc did give me a list of foods to eat to help raise my blood pressure but so far nothing has helped dramatically..  I also was given an iron supplement... which makes me vommit.. :(   Sorry you're going through this too.. but you're not alone :)

  • This is how I am- I feel faint, dizzy, etc. I passed out in the grocery store a few weeks ago and thank goodness DH was there to help me to the car. My dr stated it was due to me having low BP and stated I needed to change my diet (more salt, etc) and to purchase some compression stockings to help with circulation.
  • i get this every once and a while. my ob said it's when the baby rolls and hits my nerves just right it can cause that. (similar to when you stand up to fast) i would have your ob check just to make sure it's not something else. part of  my issue is that my normal bp before preg is 90/50 so now it's about 90-100/50-60 so it's still pretty low for being preg and she said that can cause some issues. either way, call and check if you haven't already :)
