I say its worth it if it gives you peace of mind... or an idea of what the hold up is. But that's JMO. I'm thinking of waiting until the 6 month mark if nothing happens personally.
I
BFP 1/2/10- miscarriage @ 6 weeks
BFP 9/7/10- DS born 4/30/11 via emergent c-section @ 36 weeks
Diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkin's Lymphoma 7/2/11
8 rounds of chemo & 20 sessions of radiation- NED as of 9/26/11!!!
TTC #2 since 12/2012
BFP 2/26/13 EDD 11/6/13 ***Baby Joel is on his way***
DH is having his this month. We are at a year, but I had to take a three month break because of my surgery. If you are willing to pay for it, I don't see why it's a big deal. Personally, I wouldn't spend $150 (that's how much mine is) just to have peace of mind after only 4 months of trying.

I think it's a little early. Do you have any reasons why you want to get it done now? Like, has he had surgery on his testicles, hernia, or anything that would make you think there's something wrong? If not, I'd wait. 90% of couples conceive within the first year, you're not even halfway in! While I don't recommend waiting the entire year (DH and I are in our 2nd year and just now where you are) I think waiting a few months might be best. A SA is the easiest thing to start out with though!
Make sure your DH takes daily multivitamins or FertilAid for men. Make sure it has selenium and L-Arginine and L-Carnitine. They all influence healthy sperm!
I totally believe that stress plays such a big role in TTC. Get it done and then you will know. At this pont I would pay anything to have peace of mind. we are in our 6th month right now and I already made our appt for a fertility doctor. they cant see us till Jan. so call now and see, they might not be able to take you for a while and just keep trying. A friend of mine went just a few months ago after 6 months of trying and the same month they went (found out nothing was wrong) they got pregnant!! and hey if something is wrong, you get get started right away on it insread of waiting. I feel like everyone around me is getting pregnant, its infuritating and I cant help but think that something is wrong with one of us. feeling this way isnt going to help so finding out whats going on will.....good luck to you!!!
Unless you have some reason to believe that something could be wrong I would wait at least a few more months. The reason the "norm" is to wait a year is because it can take a healthy couple a year to conceive. In the end, do whatever you feel most comfortable doing and GL.

Yes, well, newbies do tend to think that until they learn it just ain't true.
I think if you have the money, why not do it? $100 isn't a lot of money for some.
