1st Trimester

In shock ...

Hi ladies! DH and I decided to start TTC in Sept. I attempted charting last month but gave up quickly and figured we would "really" start TTC in the summer.

I've been really tired this week, but didn't think it was anything out of the ordinary since I am always tired. For some reason I decided to take a test and it was a BFP!  DH is so excited and ready to tell everyone. I am still in shock and want to wait until my dr. appt before we start sharing the news.

I know I shouldn't be THAT shocked, but I am. DH wants to at least tell our parents, but I almost feel like its not "real" and we shouldn't tell. I'm not 100% on the dates, but I believe I'm around 4 weeks.

  • Congrats! That is so exciting! Being tired is what really made me suspect I was pregnant too - as you I am always tired, but this was just ridiculous.

  • Thanks !!! Its setting in a little more after reading some of these posts. I know it sounds stupid but I'm even afraid to make a tracker right now, I just feel like its not real.
  • Congrats! We told our parents right away, at 4 weeks. That's a personal choice though. Just think of whether or not you would tell them if you m/c...if you would want their support then I would say tell them! It's exciting to share the news!

  • Congratulations!  Your situation sounds a lot like mine.  I took a test on Nov 15th (well 3 actually), and it was positive.  My H immediately wanted to tell everyone.  Like you, I just can't believe it's "real" yet.  We did tell our families on Thanksgiving, but otherwise we are keeping it quiet until after the first trimester.  I have my first dr's appt and ultrasound next Tuesday, so hopefully that will make me feel more secure.

  • So glad to hear I'm not a horrible person by being in such shock. I told DH we can tell our parents, but I dont want to tell anyone else. The doc had an  appt available next Wed, but of course I have a huge meeting at work and unfortunately I cannot miss it. I made an appt for the following Wed the 16th so hopefully I'll be able to wait that long lol.
  • Congrats and good luck to you!
  • You aren't a horrible person.  I think it's much different for us than it is for our Hs.  It's a big adjustment to picture an actual person living IN you.

Yes! Whenever I really start to think about it I get amazed and freaked out at the same time LOL

  • Congrats!  I understand being in shock (even though mine was pretty much planned!) and wanting to wait for confirmation from the doctor before telling anyone!  We just had our first appt yesterday at 8 weeks, and will be telling our families this weekend!  It was hard keeping it a secret from them for 4 weeks, but I feel much better now that I've seen the little one!  Good luck and a H&H 9 months to you!
  • Congratulations!  H&H 9 months to you!

  • What great news! Congrats and welcome to first tri. And I totally understand wanting to wait to tell everyone. Tell DH it'll be fun to have a little "secret" together and maybe he'll come around.
  • CONGRATS!!!  YAY what a great holiday gift!!
  • I was shocked when I got my BFP too.  Ours was planned and I was charting, but it was only my 3rd cycle so I really wasn't expecting it to happen so fast.  I was totally excited, but it was hard to believe it was real.  We found out when I was 4 weeks and we did tell our parents.
  • Congrats!!!
