Success in turning baby around? (breech)

I found out at my growth u/s last week that my LO has a bad sense of direction and is breech.  I've been reading up on natural ways to potentially turn him including acupuncture.  I've already ruled out doing a manual version so, if he has not turned by my next appt on 12/14, my OB will be scheduling me for a c-section.

Has anyone else been in the same situation and had success getting their baby to turn?  Elders? Looking for some hope here...

  • Check out spinningbabies.com

I was only 29 weeks, but the Inversion off the couch seemed to help!

  • so they are going to schedule your c-section in advance even though you will be only 36 weeks?

Will they give you any more time to see if LO will turn?

  • Hey, my LO was breech at my 32 w appt.  So, a bit earlier than where you are now.  They weren't worried because it was still early.  But I did my ball sitting and my cat/cow yoga positions and she flipped.  Again, I dont know if this will help you because I was earlier than you, but I thought I'd share anyway.

Also, If you do decide to try the accupuncture, the center where my MW's are have an accupuncturists that is supposed to be fantastic.  I can get you info if you want.  :o)

  • Chiropractor specializing in Webster technique.  Worked 2xs for me.  My babies like to lay sideways.
  • I haven't had any luck, LO is extremely stubborn and still breech.  :(  I would try acupuncture or moxibustion therapy (also done by acupuncturist).  I've been trying moxibustion, so far it hasn't worked, although my baby is only in the 10th percentile on the growth chart and smaller babies are more likely to be breech.  I really hope your LO is less stubborn than mine.  Good luck!
  • I heard that sometimes using cold pressure (ice packs) near his head will help him move.

    Good luck!!!

  • Christine - I would love it if you send me the info on your practice...thank you!  collagechic at gmail dot com

Yes, they will schedule the date for the section at that appt even though I'll only be 36w3d.  It's a huge practice, a very busy hospital and the holiday season so, she wants to book early and give us some options.  If LO flips, I'll be able to cancel.

    Thank you all!

  • Sent  :o)  I mentioned in the e-mail, that they also have a chiropractor, but forgot to mention, that if the acupuncture is too much, insurance may cover the chiropractor.  Just another thing to check on.  :o)

  • I am in the same situation. Going to give accupuncture a try tonight. My DR does not recommend Chiropractic, but our birthing class teacher swears by it....so we're going to try accupuncture first and then go from there..... I too have ben doing cat cows and I'm definitely going to try cold compresses near the head too!  Thakns for all the info ladies.
