Called in sick ...

I was traveling the last two days for a conference and this morning I completely overslept my alarm.  I feel bad using a sick day when I actually feel ok (aside from being exhausted) since I'm sure my symptoms will likely get worse before they get better.

What about you ladies -- are you worried about using up sick days too soon?

Re: Called in sick ...

  • I have been worried about this and so far haven't had to use any time.  I am sick all day long.  I did work from home yesterday because I had a doctor's appointment.  My boss is the only one that knows I am pg here and I have been really trying to be here but it's getting harder. I know if I start working from home more people are going to know something is up - we hardly ever get to do that.  Only 2 1/2 more weeks until our break for the holidays and I plan to tell when we get back!

  • I had to call in sick a day this week and I felt guilty about it too.  I simply couldn't get it going in the morning.  I was especially exhausted, felt horrible m/s, and I was lightheaded and saw spots upon standing.  It's really the last symptom that kept me from work.  I truly didn't feel comfortable driving, so I called in.  I do want to save my sick days because I am sure they will come in handy down the road, but my health is really important right now.  I am hopeful once I do tell my employer, they will be very understanding of my situation.
  • I've used three days this week because I have a cold, and an itchy throat. Every time I try to scratch my throat, I throw up from the m/s...ugh.

  • I am very scared about using sick days too...I had to call in Wednesday, because I could not keep any food or drink down for 24 hours and was exhausted.

If I only use them as needed for Dr. Appt's I will have 3 weeks when I have the baby...Thank goodness they allow 'donated leave' here...hopefully I will be okay...and people that I work with will be generous enough to donate...

  • I am trying to save all my sick time for after the baby is born. I hope to accumulate enough to get 12 weeks paid maternity leave. With this as my goal I may sure I go to work sick or not, well as long as I am not contagious.
  • Nope.

I have not used a day.  I refuse to use them for m/s.  I need to save them up in case something happens later in the pregnancy.
