On cards, whose name goes first?

When I send holiday cards, for example, I put DH's name first b/c that's what my mom did (she did my dad, her, me, lil sis).  I have also rationalized it that this way it is in age order.  I feel like it is a little sexist tho & my name should go first since we all know I am the one who created the card.  What do you do?

Re: On cards, whose name goes first?

  • I don't know what's right, but on our holiday cards, we had DH's name, my name and G.  When I sign thank you notes, I put my name before DH's because I wrote the card.

  • Depends who the card is going to.  If I'm sending a card to my friends or my side of the family, I put my name first.  If it's to DHs then his name comes first.

ETA: We are writing out cards and inserting a pic of DD.

  • My name, DH, baby.  You're exactly right.  It's really from you, so your name should come first, IMO.

  • I always do DH, me, DD#1, DD#2 but I can't really tell you why I guess.

lol we have our cat sleeping in the baby's bouncer as one of our pics on the holiday card this year but I didn't sign it from him - oops :)

  • The man of the house's name should go first...just like it's the man's name you use when you would say Mr. and Mrs. John Smith

ETA:  If there are kids, I put them in order of age.

  • I do DH, me, LO.

May be sexist, but I do it because DH is the head of our household.  I've always thought of it like this.  IDK.

  • IMO its proper to do husband, wife, then eldest to youngest children, followed by pets.

  • To my family, I sign first. To his, I usually leave a spot for his name to go first. We've never made cards with our names printed, so I've never thought of what I'd do then (probably put mine first because I made the card.)

  • I think it is traditional to do DH, you, kids in age order.

Although, IMO, this "head of househould" stuff is laughable crap.

  • I do DH's name first.  Please -- everyone knows I do the cards and DH does next to nothing.  I don't really care whose name comes first but I tend to do it in age order (like DD's name comes before DS's) so he goes first.  Age before beauty.  Wink

Yeah.  I'm "head of household" in our house.  LOL!  My name goes first, and that's that.  DH could care less.

  • If I'm the one making/signing the card/note, I put DH first. If he is the one doing it, he puts me first.
