Infertility

Probably an dumb ?, but...

I triggered for the first time on Wednesday night and this morning took another OPK and it was positive (first time ever), is it because of the trigger or did I actually ovulate?  I know this has been talked about, but this is my first time around with this, so I am just wondering.

Re: Probably an dumb ?, but...

  • It's the trigger & ovulation should occur 36-72 hrs after your trigger. If you test past that, the line should be lighter or negative. GL to you.

  • It's because of the trigger.  The OPK can't predict if you did in fact ovulate, it will only read the LH surge you get before ovulation.

    Good Luck this cycle!!

Thanks...I feel kind of stupid for not knowing that, but this is all new to me so I really appreciate your input.  Is there a way to know if I did ovulate?

Your RE will probably want to take blood 7 days after your surge to test your progesterone. At least this is how my RE tests for ovulation. I think they like to see it above 5 for a non-medicated cycle and above 15 for a medicated cycle. Good luck!

He has me starting Progesterone suppositories 2x/day tomorrow and then I don't go back until the 18th for a pregnancy test.  SHould I see if I should go back and get a blood test?  My problem this whole time is that i have not ovulated...so this would make sense

What Mrs.Hoppy said.  Not a dumb question at all! Big Smile

Also, my RE doesn't do the 7dpo test.  I'm not sure why.  I know I don't have O issues, so maybe that's it??

You might have to call and ask or schedule that test if they haven't already.
