Secondary IF

So if I were going to test after an IUI w/ a trigger shot...

when is the earliest I might think of doing it w/out running the risk of getting a false positive?  The last thing I want to do is "test the trigger" (which I didn't even know about until last night).  I"m only 8dpiui today, so I know its way too early to expect any real results, but I am a habitual POASer (you'd think after 2 years I would be over that).

I really WANT to wait for my beta on 12/9, but I'm doubting I've got six more days of patience in me.

Re: So if I were going to test after an IUI w/ a trigger shot...

  • Isn't waiting just the worst??!!  2ww seems like 200ww to me.  :)  I can't wait until someone invents a hpt that you can take immediately after conception.

I posted this same question last month with my IUI#1.  I got several different replies.  Most people said 7-10 days post trigger you could POAS without getting a false positive.  One person said 13 days.  I am also a habitual POAS but I was able to wait until 11 days post trigger, 9dpiui...test was positive.  12dpt, 10dpiui...positive.  13dpt, 11dpiui...negative.  beta 12dpiui...negative.  It took longer than everyone said for my trigger to wear off.  Just be careful and don't get your hopes up this early if you get a + result.

Someone also suggested this to me:  If you can't wait, you can always POAS early, get a positive result from the trigger and then keep doing it every day until you get a negative.  After that, if you get a positive, you will know it is the real thing.

Good luck.  Hope you are able to wait it out.  Either way, I hope it is positive for you!

  • ugh! I guess I'm going to have to wait it out.  It's the worst, but I think a false positive would be even harder to deal with.

Thanks for the info! I hope you get your BFP soon!!!

  • I didn't POAS until 14dpiui. Fingers crossed for ya!!!

  • For me, I start at 11  dpiui and if it's not positive by 12 dpiui, my experience tells me it's a no go that month.  GL to you!

  • I had a real positive at 10 dp iui but I had tested out the trigger around 7 dp iui (got a neg test).
