I know there are some moms who get all teary when their babies get shots. I'm not one of them. I hold him while they stick him and that's that. Whatever. He cries for a second and it's over.
Later on, however, when I pull the little bandaids off of him and see the dried blood, I feel horrible and get teary. How azz-backwards is that? Seriously, he giggled when I pulled the bandaids off and I'm sitting there like "sniff, I'm so sorry! sniff-sniff"
Re: I don't get upset during vaccinations
I don't get upset during the shot or pulling off the band-aid either. Shots are a part of life and if I get all worked up during them, he'll end up reacting negatively too.
Guess I`m just a heartless mama.
I do not understand getting upset.
Like I said, it's not the vaccines. I know they are keeping him safe, so I don't care about the 2 seconds of discomfort over them. I think it's the blood and the little holes left behind on his legs. Baby blood is not cool for me, even if it's just a tiny little drop.
Same here. I guess it also numbed me seeing DD in the NICU. She got poked all the time. She came home with 15 heal pick scabs!
Kids learn from our reactions and I really actually think its important that as parents, we keep ourselves together for them.
