I am thinking about asking my sister-in-law if she would like to watch Aiden as I need to start working soon. I would love to be able to to save a little money plus help them out.
I never thought I would have to put my kids in any type of daycare, but then my mom had to go through chemo last fall and she couldn't watch them. So we had to find daycare. So we didn't have a ton of time to interview loads of people. That being said, we looked to in home first and I really didn't like the idea of a center. We were able to find three in homes with openings for both boys. We interviewed all three and went to all three houses to check them out. We also deceided to check out the center that was just three blocks from our house. Turns out the center was a much better option for us. The hours were more flexible and we didn't have to worry about provider sick days or vacation days. The center had a published list of the major holidays they were closed on and other than those days or a possible snow day, they were open. One of the in homes we interviewed watched her grand daughters, plus had a couple other kids. She had a TV as a major part of the kids play room. Then in her contract it said, if you the parent were off work for the day, she got the day off too. So in my case, we already knew I was going to be off a lot to take my mom to appointments, would she really expect to not have the kids on those times? All three homes we interviewed were licensed. None of them had any formal learning programs for the kids. I liked that there was more structure at the center and a larger variety of people watching the kids. Had we had more time to find a perfect in home, I may have kept looking. But under our circumstances we had to make a choice and the center seemed best for us. My mom is now fully in remission and watches Timmy full time and has Benny two days a week. Benny still goes to daycare at the center 3 days per week as they do a pre-school program and he is at the age where he needs that.
FIL/MIL watches them. We didn't need daycare until DD was 6 months. I worked days and DH worked nights so it worked out. DH was told on a Thursday that he was starting days the following Monday...not really a lot of time to find daycare for a 6 month old. So, FIL said he would do it and I love that DD is so close to him. She actually wakes up on weekends calling for papa (grandpa).
We use an in home daycare 2 days per week. The rest of the time LO is with family. Anyway, I love our daycare! The woman is wonderful, the price is right, and interaction with the few other kids is great. We pay $35 per day.
