DD will be starting solids in a couple weeks, and I'm planning on making her baby food, in bulk and freezing it. So, I'll be using a food processor a lot on one or two days a week. I'm looking for one that has a large capacity, a large feed tube, with a work bowl and blades that are dishwasher safe.
I'm making my Christmas list, and just don't know which one to put on my Amazon wishlist.
Re: Recommend your food processor, please!
So all of you said about the same thing. Do you find it makes enough at a time?
Yep. My game plan was to basically prep all baby food on Sunday, then freeze for the entire week. There were only a few things that I ever had to split into two batches ... things like butternut squash. Smaller fruits and veggies we always did fine with one batch for the whole week.
Personally, I like variety in my kids diets, so at any given time I like to have about 10 kinds of fruits and 10 kinds of veggies in the freezer. We're working up to that right now as DD tried more.
Each week I'll try to add at least one more bag veggie and one more fruit. This week I did pumpkin and peaches. I had frozen the peaches whn they were in season so now I just thawed them, cooked them in a pot and put them in mini food processor. I think I did 4 "rounds" which filled three ice cube trays. Then I just rinsed it out and did the same thing for the pumpkin after it baked in the oven and filled up three more ic cube trays. Then, after about 2 hours, I pop them all out and freeze in gallon sized bags. Lasts me about 3 months.
