Success after IF

When did you start gaining weight?

I lost about 20lbs from March-August, and then things slowed down. I was proud that I was able to maintain my current weight. I do tend to fluctuate a few pounds here and there. I also tend to gain a few lbs during AF and while stimming.

But now here I am 8wks pg and I have already gained 4lbs!!! I have been watching what I am eating and eating better then I was before I got pg. I am already considered obese, god I hate that word, and according to what I have read online I should only gain 15lbs during the pg. I am freaking out that I have already gained weight and wondering what the OB is going to say when he hears this. I by no means am a nut about this and just want to be as healthy as I can for myself and the baby, but it seems that no matter how much or little I eat I am still gaining!

Am I doing something wrong? Is this normal? HELP!

Re: When did you start gaining weight?

  • I bet it is water weight! either way i wouldn't stress!!  just keep eating healthy and talk to your doc the next time you are in!

  • I started gaining weight right away.  Try not to worry.  I haven't ever been lectured about my weight.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • I am on the opposite side... 19 weeks and only 1 pound so far.  But my belly is huge so I know the baby is growing.   I think everyone is just so different.  I will probably blow up at the end.  As long as your are eating healthy, I think your are fine.  Are you at least walking or staying active?  That might insure that it is all "good weight".  Also, I know you are probably sooo tired (I was at that stage) and exercising gave me a good energy buzz.
  • I'm up 8 pounds from my previous pregnancy and I've gained 2 pounds at 9 weeks...I'm in maternity clothes already and although the shirts look better I look about 4 months pregnant alreaday.
  • I was over weight to begin with and started gaining weight from the start.  I have asked OB several times what I can do and she doesn't seem concerned because I do not have high blood presure and I passed the glucose test.  I have gained over 45 pounds now.  I think a lot of mine is water weight(thank goodness) because it is in my feet, ankles, hands, and oddly lips and cheeks and not my hips and butt where fat always seems to go.  I have not been active the whole pregnancy.  I am a worry wart and when I seem to walk to much or stand to much I seem to get pains that make me sit down and be lazy.  I have also been on a potato kick so that probably isn't helping.

I have a gift cert. to a gym so once she is here we are going to at the gym every day getting this weight off of me.  I can't take it.

I wouldn't worry to much unless you start to get some medical reasons to worry.

  • I didn't gain weight until my fifth month, and since then have averaged 2-3 lbs. per month.  I was also told that I should ideally not gain more than 15 lbs.  I found that I actually ate less because of how everything moves around within your body, but I think the key is really to be active.  I have an active job, which helps, but I also take long walks with the dogs every day.  That said, you're going to gain what you're going to gain.

  • God, I thought it was just me! I started gaining weight pretty quickly, at least what I perceive to be actual weight gain. Its probably bloating as well, but my clothes are already fitting tighter and my belly is already distended a little. I too am eating better now than before I got pregnant. I am worried about gaining too much weight.
