3rd Trimester

Anyone else concerned w/ maitenance below?

It's difficult to see down there to even "manicure and trim up"...Are any of you concerned w/ how you look down there for labor??

Re: Anyone else concerned w/ maitenance below?

  • Nope.

I could not possibly care any less about it.

  • yeah, I can't even see what it looks like anymore :)

slightly concerned, yes. was considering a wax? but then, aren't expectant mothers already subject to enough pain???

  • a little... Told hubby last week, I'll need him to trim me a bit very soon.
  • i can't see...but i still keep it bare down there lol and well i wouldnt say im concerned with how i look for labor...i just don't want my child born into a jungle! lol

  • Being on baby #3, I don't really care. As long as I'm showered and clean, that's enough. I may attempt a trim with DH's trimmer, but it's not a priority.
  • nope...I'm sure your Dr. has seen it all.  I was more concerned with how DH was going to react.  I had to let him know that it was getting difficult and he totally laughed about it.  He knew that it was a big deal to me and totally made me comfortable about it.  He said that he understood and never had an issue with how I kept things before and wasn't worried about the up keep or lack there of during pregnancy.  Don't worry about it!

  • its funny you say that 'cause I was thinking about it yesterday; especially when the handsome doctor I go to pull my pants below my belly and I'm sure you could see I needed some maitenance to go on.

I am going to get something done before i have my baby because i made fun of my sister when she had her daughter years ago and I know she's just waiting to pay me back.

  • I sometimes feel cleaner down below when its trimmed. So I just use dh buzzer.

  • I have been waxing for years and have continued to do so throughout the pregnancy.  I plan to be cleaned up for L & D.  Habit I guess.  I just feel better when I know I am well groomed :)

  • I honestly don't care what it LOOKS like. However, I can't stand bleeding when my hair down there is longer than 2 weeks worth of growth.

I actually shave right before AF comes for that exact reason.

And, it's bad enough when I wear tampons, I can't even think about bleeding all in my pubes without gagging. Blech. It just sounds dirty.

Plus, I won't be able to shave for a few weeks after because it'll be so tender, so I want to get a jump start.

  • I couldn't care less what I look like down there...but my husband does...for what reason I have no idea. He said he'll help keep it neat & tidy. He's strange but I love him lol.
  • I did, but I dont care now, I just want to have her!!!  I'm sure they've seen worse! LOL!
  • I'm not so concerned about it for labor necessarily, but as general maintenance...if that makes sense. I don't like being too hairy anywhere but my head. So even though I can barely see the area at this point I still do what I can to keep things neat.
  • I'm concerned. Especially after seeing those 1970's birthing video's! Ewww, there's already enough chaos going on down there...don't need to add jungle bush to go along with it.
  • I've been getting waxed. It's not quite time yet for another appointment, but I am worried about waiting too long and going into labor before my next wax. I'm not overly concerned about what it will look like during delivery, more about what it will feel like after delivery and many, many weeks following until I am healed enough to get waxed again.

  • At this point dh helps me trim up. I stopped waxing as it began to hurt so badly. And I've been doing it for years but suddenly it killed.

Supposedly when you are in the moment you seriously don't care but I remember seeing my friend's birth video of her son and I was like ummm wasn't he born in the 90s??? Why do you have a retro porn beaver??? It looked like a rabid animal. She just laughed and said  'trust me you won't care' but I still kinda do!

  • Yes, I just talked to DH about this the other night.  I asked him to shave me and he said, NO WAY, EWW...I told him he's going to see a lot worse come delivery time.  I told him I was paranoid of how I'd look since I can't reach or see down there.  He told me that he'll shave me close to delivery and that's it...just one one time.  Men....
  • OK people, am I the only one who wants my DH nowhere near that area with something sharp when I can't see what he's doing???  He offered to help trim it and I said "hell no."

So the other night, I decided to try myself with a razor.  OUCH.  Shaving blind, for the record, is not a good idea.  The other problem was that five minutes later, I started freaking out, seeing blood on my towel.  Apparently while I lost some hair, I also lost my mind.  In five minutes, I'd forgotten I'd just tried to shave and didn't realize the blood was coming from a cut.  DH was like, "Um, you were shaving...you probably cut yourself!"  Once I realized I'd cut myself it hurt even more.  The whole experience was miserable BUT, I do feel a little more groomed for my internal tomorrow.  LOL

  • I'm not concerned about it at all. I can't see any of it now. I told DH that if he wants me well groomed, he can do it himself. He has done it twice so far and may do once more before delivery.

  • I've been keeping up with my waxing appointments throughout the pregnancy so I'm not concerned in the slightest.
  • couldn't care less. I had DH help me trim a couple weeks ago, not because of what it looked like, but I felt like it was just too hot. It has stayed pretty short since, so I'm good to go.

  • I've been blind shaving for weeks now, I try to keep up with it just in case I totally can't reach it in a fwe weeks!  At least I know it won't be crazy out of control if I have to stop anytime soon :)
