Finally, after receiving my 2nd round of steroids for Marlowe's lungs at 6pm last night, we were sent home on strict bedrest (meaning NO movement besides shower and bathroom, doing 24 hr urine collection again too due to protein in urine while there).
They felt after 24 hr monitoring, she was strong enough at this point for me to come home for 2 days and return on Friday for and NST and AFI check, with the possibility of re-admission if that doesn't look well. She is very active, but her heart rate is a bit lower than they would like at this point. It has dropped from the 140-150's to the 120-130 range, which they believe is due to her IUGR.
Which brings us to the official diagnosis of IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction).
You can read
more here:
https://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/iugr.htmShe
has the Asymmetric or secondary IUGR...which is caused by having the
marginal cord insertion and my placenta is called a bi-lobed
placenta (which we officially discovered at the perinatologist on Tuesday)...meaning it has 2 pieces and is connected by thin membrane.
It happens to be where the cord is attached therefore not giving her
the nutrition she needs. On top of that I have PIH right now...but we
have managed to keep my blood pressure down with bedrest for the time
being. If it spikes at all, they will take her.
Currently, she
is in the 1st percentile size wise, which is the worst percentile she
could be in, besides not growing at all. Her growth in the last month
was so minimal that she is barely thriving in me at this point.
However, her bloodflow (to & from placenta and in brain) is good and they see her brain/head growing, which means
she is compensating for the circumstances and they believe this is
better than being taken from me at this point. They do not think I will
keep her in me much longer...they are giving me a 2 week estimate at
best right now. My next growth scan is 12/15 to allow for some growth to show if it is gonna happen.
We are desperately praying I make it to 33 orr 34 weeks...as that would be ideal, especially since she is so small. They explained to me that if you laid 100 30wk old fetuses, she would be by far the smallest. So the goal is to get as much growth while in me as we can, w/o risking stillbirth...bc that is the concern at the moment. Scary but true.
Thanks again for all your T&P....she needs all she can get at this point!
Re: Update on my L&D admission...
Thinking of you!!! I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. Lots of T&P's coming your way.
Breezie - If you don't have any objections, I'm going to add you and Marlowe to our small group prayer list. It's hard to stay positive in situations like this, you just have to trust that good will come.
I'll be thinking of you. Grow Marlowe grow!
T&P your way, what exactly is she measuring?
scratch that last part... i read it...
I am not exactly sure which measurements you are wanting to know but she measures in the 1st percentile overall. On Tuesday at the perinatologist, at 30wks 2 days, she measured overall at 28wks 0 days.
Is that what you mean?
glad you get to go home. Grow Marlowe grow!
