Can PPD start before baby?

Clearly the name means after the baby comes, but is it possible that end-of-pregnancy hormones can start the process rolling?

I have history with depression but have been great and off meds for years. I have been feeling in a funk for a few weeks now but it's definitely not depression (at least yet). I am so worried about PPD.

I don't know what the "right" answer is, but I definitely saw signs while I was still pg. I kept worrying that it might be a sign that I would have PPD afterwards... and I was right.

Actually it can, I was just reading an article about it... and I think actually the December pregnancy & newborn magazine has some information about that? Can't remember? Definitely speak with your OB about it, I would think that it would be better to start some treatment pre-emptively than to wait until after when it's much worse? JMO
