XP: 4 pillows for birth class?

Is it just me or does that seem a little excessive? I signed up for this all in one weekend birth class our hospital offers and was reading through the list of things we have to bring and it says 4 pillows - I assume it's to practice various techniques but I'd think 2 would be more than enough. Plus we're likely having a c-section anyways (but I had already signed up for and paid for this class before we knew that).

  • Two should be fine. I brought two as instructed and I didn't even use them. They're just for breathing exercises and labor rehearsal so bring whatever you'd like to sit/lay on.

  • Yeah that sounds a bit excessive.  I brought 2 with me, one to lay on and then both when i was leaning back against my husband.
  • I brought all 4 and used all of them.  My class was all in one day and sitting in the chair got uncomfortable towards the end.  I put the pillows on the floor and sat between DHs legs...very comfy.  We had to practice breathing that required two pillows on the floor and two on the chair and other things like that.  The 4 really worked well for me...but its all personal opion.  Good luck!
  • I only brought 2 for my class.  My hubby would've like one of them when we were on the floor so maybe they say bring 4 so he can have pillows too?
  • I would take all four.  You'll need them stacked high so you can lean on them while you're on all fours and keep a straight back.  That's hard to do with only 2.  Also, when you're doing some positions leaning against your coach, you'll need 1-2 behind your back, then 2-3 under your legs for support.
  • we did classes for DD--2 was plenty

  • I only brought my 2 pillows the 1st week, then didn't even bring them after that.  4 definitely sounds excessive.
