Need help w/ tailgate menu

Okay so it's not really tailgating since we will actually be in my house and not at the game, but nonetheless, I need help w/ a menu for my game party this Saturday.  Give me your ideas ladies - and include recipes where applicable!

Thanks!

ETA - and I know it should be simple and obvious to make a tailgate menu, I'm just having mental malfunction at the moment!

Re: Need help w/ tailgate menu

  • Meatball subs (use frozen meatballs in a crockpot, add a jar of spagetti sauce) serve on hoagies w/ mozerella cheese

  • ahhh my area of expertise....... LOL
    just keep it simple
    here's some ideas:

    cheese dip
    redneck caviar
    fruits
chicken salad sandwiches - you could make the salad or buy it and just have croissants for the sandwiches
    bbq
    wings
    pigs in a blanket
    chicken fingers
    chips n salsa
    bacon wrapped mushrooms
    pasta salad
    potato salad
    chips
    veggie tray
chili - with all the fixings like cheese, fritos, sour cream, etc.
dessert - cookies, brownies, banana pudding, themed cake (most grocery stores sell these or the cookie cakes decorated)

I'm sure I could think of more........

  • 7 layer/mexican dip is yummy!!!
also, I think southern living has something online with suggestions too that might help.
  • All great ideas ladies!!  The 7 layer mexican dip was the only thing that I knew we were definitely having!  I guess great minds think alike!!

I'm definitely filling in the the blanks with some of your suggestions.  If anyone has other additions, keep 'em coming!

  • We made crock pot bbq for a tailgating party at our house.  It was great to throw it together and forget about it for a while.  I also agree with Sarah about the buffalo chicken dip.

These are the ones I use.  I think Monica has a bbq recipe in her blog also.

Are you looking for just finger foods or fork foods also?

  • Thanks!  I'm mainly looking at finger foods although I know a couple of my more dainty girlfriends will use a fork no matter what!

  • It sounds delicious.  I'm adding it to my short list of new recipes to make for the holidays!  I have a couple Christmas gatherings to attend so this will  be perfect.  Thanks!

ETA: I meant this about the southern succatash!

  • A very easy finger food recipe that always goes over well is what I call bacon wraps.

    1 box of club crackers

2 packages of bacon (not the thick kind, just the regular kind)

3 packages of cream cheese, softened.

Preheat oven to 450, once preheated turn over down to 350 and cook the wraps on 350.  .

Cut the packages of bacon in half.  Take 2 club crackers, dump a pretty good amount of cream cheese in the middle then wrap one piece of bacon around it.

Cook on 350 for 30-35 minutes.

This recipe makes a ton of them and they always get eaten.  I've also seen these at wedding before, so you may have had them before.
