I lurve it.
) I am NOT crazy about the tree... we will probably rearrange those lights and make them go higher into the branches, or just take those down all together.
Sorry it's blurry, my camera sucks in the dark.
Hope all you white-lights lovers don't think it's too tacky ![]()

Re: My house with colored lights (PIP)
Let's try this again...
I was JUST reminding my mom how much I HATE colored lights and the fact that there is now a 79 foot tree in NYC with 5 miles of colored lights on it for a month.
At least your lines are straight. That's another peeve, and it seems to only be a problem with people who put up colored lights.
In looking at my photo, my garland on the garage on the right hand side is NOT straight at the bottom, and DH is currently out there fixing it because I am that anal.
Glad you...sorta... think they're... okay? lol
WHEN DID I MISS YOUR BFP WOMAN?!?!?!!
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL. Yes, they're ok for colored lights. I know that sort of seems like a backhanded compliment, but seriously, it's the best I can do.
I have some serious OCD that prevents me from seeing past the fact that you have 3 different types of lights in your front yard. But honestly, it could be much worse. Much, much worse. My neighbor did an incredibly tacky outdoor light show a couple years ago with white lights and by the time Christmas came around I was ready to rip them down. I plan to go out Christmas light hunting this year to get pictures of all the tacky shiit people put up.
Hi, I'm CB and I have a problem.
ETA: Now that I look again, I see you have a 4th type on a tree to the right of the garage. It's a serious problem, I tell you.
haha, thanks! I don't "do" bfp announcements. I found out this morning.
Ahh, correction.... we have FOUR different types/colors of lights on our house.
Fat colored LED lights that outline the house.
Regular colored small lights mixed into the garland around our door & garage.
Small white lights outlining our mulch bed and tree.
And small red lights on our bush to the right of the garage.
I actually do not like the LED lights but we bought them last year and spent over $100, so I plan to use them a few years before buying the regular ones-- if they still make them, at that point, who knows.
And I'm not sold on the white ones mixed in... I thought doing color on those things would be too much, so I thought white would help balance. Again, not sold on it.
But all in all, I love it. I love the color and cheerfulness and child-like qualities. It's what I grew up with at my parents' house (who now do white lights w/wreaths and bows) and it just brings back *SO* many awesome memories.
I know some people think color = tacky automatically, but I've seen SERIOUS tacky on colored lights (not just colored actually, white too...) and I'd venture to say my house is not tacky. But those who hate color will think it's tacky probably no matter what.
Oh well, at least the rest of the houses in my neighborhood are colored lights and only one of them is white lights, so I know I'm not bothering neighbors. lol.
Well thank ya, lady.
We like it. It suits our needs. We just wish the property were bigger and the kitchen, too. We're hoping to move in a couple years onto at least 5 acres. My business won't do well on 1/3rd acre which is what we currently have.
But as a first house, it's great.
I don't by any means think it's tacky.
I just wouldn't decorate my house with colored lights, that's all.
And I love that it brings back memories for you. My sister used to INSIST that our Christmas tree have colored lights and since she was the baby, she got her way every.single.year. It drove me BATTY. Which is why, now, my tree has white lights, my wreath has white lights, and all the candles in the windows are white.
Maybe one day I can get over the trauma, but I don't see it happening any time soon.
And I totally need to find the picture I took of my neighbors house when he did it all tacky and shiz.
Aww, I know what you mean.
And my sister's neighbors across the street from her have an INFLATABLE FAMILY. It is horrible. Frightening. I'm either going to poke holes in them or unleash one of my fur monsters on them.
