While I understand where you are coming from with the concern about abuse posts, there is info posted on here that is sad, heartbreaking and disgusting all the time.

I read some of those stories and I am reminded that no one lives in Pleasantville. Crimes happen against adults, the elderly and children. It keeps me on my toes and reminds me that abuse comes in all different shapes, sizes, communities, and financial brackets.

Since we do not live in a bubble, we should be informed and it should be your option to open a post that is labeled "disturbing". If you or anyone else does, then that is on you/them. But I do not think they should be asked to "take this down, please".

    i totally agree. if you don't want to heed the warnings (which i agree, there should be) then that's on you sister. if you don't want to hear bad sh*t don't watch the news/read the paper/listen to the radio and even still there is a chance that people you know IRL will say something disturbing from time to time.

    I fail to see how you are kept on your toes by reading stories about 2month olds being sexually abused. If you are so obtuse that you need contant reminders to watch out for your children by constantly recounting childrens victimizations then there are larger issues at play. And I, like everyone else here, am perfectly within my right to request sensitive material be removed.

    It isn't reading about the victims. It is reading about the victimizers...who are they? What do they do? How do they live?
    You missed that part of my post where they come from all walks of life.

    Maybe there was a clue, how the abuse was picked up. Maybe something can learn from what is reported in these stories. Is it disgusting? Yes, but I will not burry my head in the sand and be oblivious to reality.

    And, I am perfectly within my rights here to tell you I think your request for removal of such links is "obtuse".

    What are your thoughts on posting links to the sex offender registry sites?
