Postpartum Depression

If you took 50 mg of Zoloft and it didn't work for you ...

.... what did? A higher dose of Zoloft? Another medicine? Seeing a therapist?

It seems to be making a little bit of a difference but not enough. It almost just feels like I need a higher dose, but I'm going to see what my dr recommends. I was just curious of others' experiences. This is all so new to me, as I didn't have PPD with DS#1 but have it horribly with DS#2. :o( I'm so ready to be myself again!

  • how long have you been on it? I know that SSRI's (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors- the specific anti depressant that it is) take several weeks to reach maximum effectiveness. If it's been over a month then I'd recommend asking your doc to either be switched or maybe they can give you something in addition to the Zoloft.

I've been on it about 6 weeks now.

  • I'm on 100 mg and it does nothing for me. My psychiatrist just upped the dose to 150 mg today. I also got a script for something I can't pronounce and Ambien. I hope it starts working for you!!!

I would probably give it another month. It took a good 8 weeks for me to feel the full effects of the Zoloft. My ob said that was normal.

  • 50 mg of zoloft took the edge off for me, but I still felt really anxious.  My dr increased my dose to 100 mg and it made a world of difference.  She told me that 50 mg is a very low dose and most of her patients are on at least 100 mg.

  • My OBGYN recently upped my dose to 100mg.
