Well we're home from the hospital with a head-down baby
We checked in this morning at the hospital around 9 and got settled into our L&D room. They asked the 101 questions that I'm sure I'll have to go through again when its time to have the baby and then got me set up with my IV and started monitoring the baby. Surprisingly, I was having contractions that I didn't even realize. At the time they were about 4 minutes apart, lasting about 70 seconds but then spread out to 7-8 minutes apart. I do have some lower back cramping/menstrual type pain, but nothing bad and not what I thought contractions would feel like or what my contractions back in July/August felt like.
They monitored the baby for about an hour and a half. They said her heart rate and activity looked great, so they then gave me trebutatine (??), which relaxed my uterus and helped to stop the contractions so that they could do the version. We did some ultrasound scans to double check the baby's position and then got started with the version.
Overall, it was quick although it was painful. The doctor was very quick and it lasted maybe only a total of 3 minutes. I tried to focus on my breathing and just took all my aggression out on DH's hand The doctor did then give me the option to be induced today - however, after discussing the pros and cons we decided to just come home and wait (which is her professional opinion as well). I go back for a non-stress test on Friday and then another internal on Monday if we still don't have a baby.
So now we're home. I'm absolutely exhausted and am just hoping she doesn't come tonight so that I can get some rest first! After being in the hospital all day and being this exhausted without actually having done much, I can only imagine the actual birth process and the energy needed for that!
Re: Version Successful!
Congratulations! I'm sure you didn't get any sleep last night since you knew what might be coming today, so rest up! I think that's the biggest issue with induction, you know it's coming so it's hard to relax and sleep.
I'm so glad it worked - enjoy this time to relax before she comes!
TTC since Jan 07. Dx with PCOS Jan 08
Fantastic!! Get some rest, and prepare for baby!!
