Question if your washing machine has a Sanitize cycle?

What types of things do you use it for?  Sheets?  Does it cause any shrinkage?  I'm kind of afraid to use it and render my sheets useless!

Re: Question if your washing machine has a Sanitize cycle?

  • I only use it for my work scrubs and lab coats.  No shrinkage yet, but I'm still fearful of that.  I just wash my sheets in hot water but the normal cycle.

  • I use it for Sheets, towels, and DD's clothes. I haven't noticed any shrinkage, but I also have a "Shrink-Proof" type setting that it always stays on as well.
  • We use sanitize for towels and sheets and, and the babywear cycle (which from what I can tell is sanitize) for dd's clothes.

  • Sheets, towels, cleaning rags & cloth diapers.

  • Oh I did not notice any shrinkage either.
  • towels, sheets, underwear, and then anything particularly nasty the dogs have done.  No shrinkage yet.
  • This doesn't help, but it reminds me of when we had a roommate a few years ago. Her first week in our house, she asked me where our white vinegar or color-safe bleach was. I told her I didn't think we had any. Her eyes got big and she said "What do you use to wash your, you know, underwear?" I said "Umm, the laundry soap ...." and her eyes got even bigger and she gasps, "What? But what about, the FECES??" Apparently we should have been washing all underwear in hot water with bleach, and she was then afraid to even use our washer -- what with all the feces there must have been in there.

I didn't know what to say -- I called my mom to find out if all along I'd been washing our underwear the wrong way, and now we both kind of have a complex wondering if we are unsanitary. Or wondering if my roommate just had really dirty underwear.
