So it looks like for sure I am having surgery...

Today we went to the surgeon for a consult on my hip.  It is definite that I will need it replaced.  Likely it will happen the week before Christmas.  I'm pretty upset about it all.  I've been through so much with the twins and now this.  But I just have to try and be optimistic.  I have a good life.  We all have our trials and this just happens to be mine.

  • a few years back my uncle & grandpa both had to have their hips replaced. it was tough, but they both healed quickly and were sooo much better than they were before. hopefully you'll heal quickly and you'll be like new with your bionic hip! sorry it has to be so close to christmas. i'm sure that is really stressful.

  • OMG, you need a hip replacement?/??

That sucks and it will be fairly challenging w/LO's, but I have to tell you that they really do push recovery along pretty quickly these days. I know 2 people that recently had this done and they were up and walking in literally a few days. They are older too, so your age and general health is a definite advantage.

    GL!

  • Sorry to hear that.  Did they tell you what recovery time looks like?  My MIL has had both ankles and an elbow replaced due to RA.  I know it can be tough going.

Off the subject, I love that picture of the babies.

  • I'm sorry--I didn't know you were having a problem with your hip.  T&P for you, you've already been through a lot this year--I know you can get through this, too!
  • I'm sorry fran. I hope you heal quickly. And yes, you HAVE been through a lot.
  • ouch! I'm sorry you have to deal with this on top of everything else. Hope you have a quick and easy recovery. I'll be thinking about you!

  • Wow that stinks, but it's better for you. We have a friend who is 38 and has 2 hip replacements. He's able to do everything. I don't know what his recovery was like, but....

    Good luck.

  • We are looking at 5 days in the hospital, 1 month on crutches, and 8 wks of PT for recovery.  I have a FT nanny and DH will be off during Christmas holidays for the most part.  That is the good thing.
