I wish I had bought the ultimate diaper bag from PBK. I bought a petunia picklebottom bag which is nice but I totally envied the pockets on my friends PBK bag.

I had a couple of diapers bags to start with but ended up with a laptop bag which I loved. There are multiple compartments and you can buy a travel changing mat to put in there. It also had a wallet organizer built in already.
I, for some reason, got one that matched the nursery theme. Why??? It's never in the nursery so who cares! LOL Just remember you are the one who will be carrying it so think of it like a purse that should reflect your personal style, but that needs to have compartments for things so you can find them quickly (toy, pacifier, etc). A fabric that you can either wash or wipe the inside out with a damp cloth is essential for dirty bibs, burpcloths, etc that might get messy stuff on the inside.
My cousin has a Vera Bradley bag that she swears hold it all - NMS, but it did have lots of compartments and stuff. I carried a Skip Hop bag for a while - but the way the velcro was on it, everything that was in the main compartment would get stuck to it or snag, so I bought the Sherpani and love it!
I can't recommend a brand, but I loved the last one I had because of the amount of pockets and the size. When we went out, it was usually for the day so I had to take ALOT of stuff with us. And I loved having different compartments for my stuff, changing items, dirty diapers, clothes and bottles.
I got an Eddie Bauer Sport Tote at an outlet store for $14.99. It's wonderful! Plenty of pockets, clips, etc for DD's stuff. People don't even realize it's not a diaper bag...and it matched my travel system
Re: 2nd time moms: Recommend your diaper bag
I am really hoping for this one
There is another diaper (computer tote) that coach has that I am also looking at.
I have a Bumble Bag and LOVE it!

I have a Sherpani bag that I carried when DD was smaller and had more 'stuff' - kinda like this one....
