I guess we'll start with the day before Logan was born, Nov 25, I had a
38/39 week Doctor appointment and ultrasound that afternoon and
everything was normal just like the week before. Went home thinking I
was going to be making a turkey and watching the Thanksgiving Macy's
Day Parade the next morning! Lenell got home from work and we decided
to go to the mall. Started having more painful contractions then normal
as we walked the mall for an hour but they didn't seem to get any
worse! Bought some pies for the next day and then went home around 9ish
that night!
Around 2am or 3am I started timing the
contractions cause they seem to be getting quite a bit more intense! I
timed them for about 2 hours and they were coming anywhere from 3 to 6
minutes apart. Called my Dr and he said, Go to hospital right away!
haha. So that's what we did. Lenell took the dogs out real quick and we
got ready and left for the hospital. I believe we got there around 6am
and were in the room by 6:30am. They hooked me up and said I was having
contractions any where from 1 to 5 minutes apart. They checked to see
how dilated I was and I was only at 1 to 2 centimeters so the nurse
said they'd monitor me for an hour and if I don't have any progress
that I might get sent home since I might not be in active labor yet!
Maybe
a half hour later the nurse comes in and moves my position and a lady
comes in to do an ultrasound. The nurse explains that my BP is really
high (145/103) and that Logan isn't handling the contractions very well
so basically I'm not going anywhere! After the ultrasound they find out
that the fluid is also low! They tell me that my Doctor is being called
to come in and that I might have to have a C-section! At that point the
nurse says that I'm definitely having a baby today! I'm not really sure
about the timing of everything cause I was busy dealing with the
contractions. They wanted me to lay on my back with a pillow propping
me to the side, which is absolutely uncomfortable and made the
contractions feel much more worse!
At some point my Doctor comes
in and I believe it's been about two hours since we arrived. He checked
to see if my dilation had progressed at all and it hadn't so at that
point they were pretty sure I was going to be having a c-section!
Anesthesiologist came in and explained to me what they were going to be
doing if I ended up having a c-section and by that point it was pretty
obvious I was going to be having one! I believe that happened around
8:45 and at around 9am they came in an told me that I was going to the
OR at 9:15am. Which was a bit overwhelming cause it all happened so
fast! Lenell decided to run down to the car cause he wanted to get the
camcorder and at 9:15 I was wheel chaired over to the OR and prepped.
They gave me a spinal, which was an absolutely weird feeling and Lenell
came in and they started the c-section. The Doctor gave me a heads up
right before they got the baby out to let me know that there was going
to be a lot of pressure but there was really no preparing for that kind
of pressure! It literally felt like my heart was being stomped on! I
really don't recall being warned about this! haha. Logan was born on
Nov, 26 2009 at 9:37am weighing in at 5lbs 14oz and 19 inches long!
Lenell was a little upset cause they would only let him record at
certain times.
Anyway they brought Logan to the warmer and as
I saw him the water works started coming! They let Lenell hold him and
propped him on me for a second so I could see him! Then they took him
out of the room and Lenell went with them and they finished the
c-section! I still can't believe how quickly everything happened! I was
not expecting to be holding my baby so soon but it has been a wonderful
6 days so far!
My Blood pressure is still high. I went to see my
OB this past Monday and they took the staples out. My BP is around
136/94 and was the same last night when we checked it at CVS. I'm
really hoping it goes down before I go in again next Monday cause I
don't want to be put on medication or whatever they will want me to do!
Logan is sleeping very well! Last night I had to wake him up to
feed him! The first few days of recovery were a bit rough but
everything is going very smoothly now and every day I'm starting to
feel more comfortable and my swelling is going down as well! Anyway so
that's how it happened and tomorrow my baby will be a week old!
