Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

What does your 1+yr old drink?

She is off bottles now.  So she takes about 3 sippies of milk a day.  This is all I give her.

Should I give her water too?

Daycare gives juice with snacks, I see no need to give her juice anytime in the near future.

Re: What does your 1+yr old drink?

  • Water...lots of water.  I do let her have about 4 oz of juice at daycare and sometimes at home.  Water is great for them.  I give her a lot of water because she has constipation issues.

  • Milk and water and on occasion, juice
  • water, breastmilk, and whole milk.  Good for you for already having her off the bottle!  We're still transitioning DD to a sippy (for milk anyway, she'll use it for water).
  • Three cups of milk a day, and as much water as she wants (she puts away quite a bit of it).  She also gets watered down juice occasionally as a treat.

  • DS gets whole milk and water.
  • water or milk generally. sometimes juice/water mix for a treat or if he's sick and i really need him to drink a lot.

  • 3 sippies of milk a day with meals, plus water & VFusion in between - I would say probably two full sippies of water & one of VFusion. I would definitely be giving her water in between meals.
  • Water.

In the morning, I give her a sippy with a Kefir smoothie in it. It has probiotics in it, and it helps get her calcium in, as she despises milk.

  • When DS turned 1year old we started giving him sippies of water with just a splash of juice in them.  We still give half water/half juice when he's not getting milk or plain water.

  • Milk, water and sometimes juice. My thought is that they are probebly thirsty from all the stuff they do, plus, they are tiny people and are bound to be thristy more than 3X/day like the rest of us.
  • Water and milk. Milk sippies with meals (doesn't drink the whole thing), when he wakes in the morning and after his nap. Water throughout the day whenever he wants.

  • Water, water, and more water.  She hates juice, and will only take milk from a bottle--which she'll only drink first thing in the morning.  So I make sure to pump up her calcium all day, and she drinks at least 3-4 sippies of water a day.

  • Water and milk.

We do water with meals because he chugs milk and doesn't eat as much food.  He also drinks water throughout the day, and does his sippys of milk also.

  • Milk at meals and water in between and with snacks. He'll occassionally get a little V8 splash mixed in with his water.
  • Bourbon

  • Milk w/ meals and he always has a sippy of water by him.  Daycare gives him juice sometimes, I don't....he seems to like water better.

  • Water and milk. He gets an 8 oz sippy of milk with breakfast and another 8 oz in a sippy before his bath at night. During the day he drinks water - and a lot of it. He probably drinks around 30 oz of water a day.

  • DS gets 2 cups of milk and the rest of the day I give him either water or cold decaf tea (he LOVES tea)
