How much time does your LO spend entertaining his/herself (on the playmat, blanket, in the swing, etc.) without you right there directly interacting with him/her (but nearby, of course)?
Sometimes I feel like I'm always in her face, lol

Ella will stay happy entertaining herself on the mat for about 10-15 min. Sometimes when she's on the mat I play with her, other times I watch her and fold laundry.

So how many times a day would you say she does that 10-15 mins on her own? A few?

yea, I would say maybe two times ... she likes the mat, but doesn't LOVE it.
DD loves her mat and would happily stay there for 30+ minutes. I try and limit it to 15 minutes at a time because I don't like her looking at the lights and stuff too long
I'd say poor Matty probably spends way too much time entertaining himself. The curse of the second child. I feel so guilty every time I put him down somewhere to help or take care of JD (which is unfortunately quite frequently). Fortunately, he is pretty easy going about it, and gets a big kick out of watching all his big brother's antics and commotion.
I'm always right there, but not always interacting. At 3 months he did a lot of back and tummy time. A switch flipped and he was so over the swing at 3 months.
There were times he would play on his own for an hour. They need their time too.
Now he is even more independent but I'm down there with him more helping him. He is sitting and playing with toys, but often needs my assistance with the toys.

That's great, I can't wait until she's more into toys, and can sit up on her own!
Your son is sooo cute, he reminds me of Russell Crowe as a baby, lol

He usually entertains himself for several 10-15 sessions throughout the day. On his mat, in his glider/swing, on our bed while I get dressed and ready. His mat only plays music for 10 minutes at a time, so that's a good timer for me!
Re: How much independent time?
Connor will play on his gym mat for about 20 minutes.
He hates his swing though! Unless it's right after a bath, and it puts him straight to sleep.

if i leave her in her mat- hours. literally- she freking loves it. i usually pop in every few minutes though because i'm bored
and in her swing- if she's content- like an hour. if she's fussy- like 10 min.
