Our (old) pediatrician rec. that DD eat every 4 hours which used to work, but now I'm having a hard time fitting in a full bottle in between late afternoon/early evening and bedtime - she's either not hungry for the bottle or ends up being not hungry before bed. She's only getting about 22 oz. a day because of it and I think that it's starting to cause her to wake up hungry more at night. I think I'm going to start to try to get her on an every 3 hour schedule so that she gets 5 full bottles a day plus her two small meals.
That was a little longer than I thought it would be!
Re: How often do you feed LO?
Exactly this.
Ella's hat is hella cute! Where did you get it?
I feed her in the am, she gets 3 (today we're sending 4) bottles @ daycare, then I feed her twice at night. So used to be 6 and now might be 7 (although I think it might still be 6, just w/ more milk at daycare).
Have you tried giving her more milk at a time instead of more often?
He put himself on a schedule (minus the solids):
8am: 6oz Bottle
10am: 6oz Bottle
12pm: Fruit and Cereal or Veggie
2pm: 7oz Bottle
5pm: 7oz Bottle
6:30pm: Veggie
8pm: 7oz Bottle
STTN
So 5 bottles and 2 feedings of solids.
If he ate every 4 hours after every bottle he wouldn't STTN. He is happy and content. I'm not worried and neither is our pedi.
ETA: I have tried offering more to spread it out...this is all he will take, so I know he is full.
DD eats 6oz every 4hrs. Sometimes closer to 3.5hrs. I really let her call the shots.
Since we increased to 6oz, and she stretched out to 4hrs, she has dropped her early morning bottle, so I'm wondering if I should feed her closer to 3hrs again to make sure she gets 6bottles per day...we'll see.
Today will be something like this:
3am, 7:30am, 11:30am, 3pm, 6:30pm, 9pm
DS eats 6 oz every 3.5 hours, with oatmeal at the mid-morning meal. We will add an extra oatmeal to the evening meal next week or so. Today will be:
2:20 am, 7:20 am, 10:50am w/ oatmeal, 2:20pm, 5:50pm.
He goes to bed at 6:45 and wakes up b/w 1-5am for the first feeding.
