How and when to stop

Swaddling you LO at night to go to bed? Right now she only get's swaddled at night. But in the day when she takes her naps she wakes herself up by hitting her face or scratching. To stop the scratching did you put scratch mits on? and how long did it take for LO to get uses to not being swaddled?

(I didn't know if this should be on 0-3 or 3-6)

Re: How and when to stop

  • We only swaddled in the hospital. Try the mittens or save some $$$ and use baby socks... or clip their nails because babies love their hands to be near their face.

  • DD has crazy long nails, so we file every other day or so. As for teh swaddle, we just started swaddling with one arm out so we will slowly wean her from it. Some people I know swaddled for up to 5 months so it could take awhile. GL!
  • IDK why everyone is in such a hurry to stop swaddling.  DS sleeps so much better and it keeps him warm.  He does 8+ hours at night.  I'm going to swaddle him as long as possible.  It doesn't take up that much time or effort.
