How do you eat your chili?

I currently have a pot simmering on the stove and it smells soooo good. I remember posting something on here about chili before and someone freaking out that I put sour cream in it. I am pretty sure that chili has a lot of regional differences. Like someone once told me they don't put beans in it and they were from Texas I think.

I make mine kind of spicy (well, as spicy as us Northerners get) and add cheese, sour cream and tortilla chips. Mmmmm.

Re: How do you eat your chili?

  • i don't like beans-hubby does, my parents always put some elbow maccaroni in which hubby doesn't enjoy.  i put shredded cheddar and sour cream on it.  i also like mushrooms in my chili!!  something about the hot of the chili and the cool of the sour cream is so good!

  • I have heard about the Texas chili that doesn't have beans. I think that's the best part, though! I eat mine the same way you do.

  • I loooove melted cheese on top of mine. I haven't tried sour cream but it sounds really good.

  • I like what you are talking about. I eat it the same way as you. I don't discriminate though. I like all sorts of chile. White chili, beans, no beans. Yum chili. I made some and froze some of it for after the baby arrives. I hope I can wait now. That sounds yummy!

  • cheese and sour cream all in a sourdough bread bowl. yummy.
  • I'm a frito chili pie kind of girl.  - Cheese, Fritos, Chili, maybe some onions.

Edit:  - No beans in my Texas Chili!

Out of my own belly button of course.

  • I eat it different ways. Sometimes over rice with cheese, sometimes with crackers and cheese. Sometimes with sour cream. Always with cheese though. lol
  • Spicy, no beans for sure, and cubed roast/sirloin instead of ground beef.

We top it with shredded cheddar and onions. I actually like a spoonful of sour cream on top. We mostly eat it with cornbread or as Frito Pie.

  • I'm from TX - people who like beans put beans in their chili, people who don't like beans don't.

I like my chili with Ranch Style beans, a little bit spicy, some fresh onion, green bell pepper, and garlic browned with the meat; served over rice, cornbread, fritos, or tortilla chips and topped with cheese. I don't like sour cream (when I'm not pregnant, but right now it sounds good), so I don't add that, but lots of people do. The spicier the chili, the more need for sour cream.

Sounds good! Thanks for the recipe.

  • Where I'm from in Texas, everyone says "real" Texas chili doesn't have beans - haha

I do NOT put beans in mine, but I top it with sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and onions. We also usually eat it with white rice.

  • I actually have some cooking on the stove right now as well! Can't wait to add cheese, sour cream and a tortilla! YUM!

  • Yum. Chili. I love it it with cheese and rice. So yummy.

I'm lucky because here in my area we have a chain of restaurants called Hard Times Cafe and they have some of the best chili. They have 4 different kinds. My favorite is actually vegetarian. It is spicy but I lurve it :)

  • No beans.  With Fritos, sour cream and cheese.
  • mmmm chili w/ sour cream, cheese and onions.
  • I like beans... hubby doesn't. We both like it a little spicy. I like to put sour cream, onions, and cheese on top.... and pour it over a baked potato or fritos.
  • Cheddar, sour cream and green onions on top.  And I love it all over some elbow macaroni.

This is EXACTLY how I eat mine!

  • We eat it with beans.  I mash up saltines and put them in there.

  • From Cincinnati originally so....

Over spaghetti, topped with shredded cheddar, and hot sauce.  3-way style.... mmm.   I also add coca powder and cinnamon to it while cooking, it gives that cincy flavor.
