Shower vent (I hate myself)

Let me preface this by saying I hate myself for complaining about this, but my shower is four days away, and so far only 4 items have been purchased off my registry. I'm sure I'll get nice gifts from off the registry, but it's just frustrating because I registered primarily for straightforward necessities and now we'll likely have to buy them all ourselves. I guess I'll just choose to view the weeks of research I did to compile the registry as preparation for my own big shopping trip. Like I said, I hate myself for even complaining, but I can't help feeling disappointed.

Ok, pity party over. Thanks for letting me vent.

  • Yeah, you are being a b!tch but it's ok. I got alot of gift cards and lots of items off my registry that were not marked off. Actually, I got so many duplicates because of this. Good luck and I hope you have a nice shower.

  • Most people shop the day before or the day of the shower. I know I do, for every shower I go to.

  • You may be suprised how many people buy last last minute
Baby number two! Coming soon! June 8th.
  • Good luck, I got mostly clothes!  It is a PITA to exchange everything.
  • Mine is this weekend too.  If you're F&F are anything like mine, they'll get your gift this weekend.  If not, just but what you need as you need it.  You don't need much for the first few months anyway.

  • At my first shower (Dh's family) we got about 4 things off our registry.  At DH's work party they pooled their money together and got us a glider (woot), at my third shower (my fam and friends), we got less than 10 (small) things from our registry and a bunch of clothes.  Thankfully we also got about $200 in BRU gift cards, so we're able to get some of the other "must haves" using them!  Hope you have a great party!

  • this happened to me. bottom line is, people will buy you what they think you need. it's annoying, but luckily most of my stuff was from target, which gave me store credit. i had so many unnecessary purchases, i exchanged them for a really nice crib mattress! for the stuff i'll never use, i put it all in a box, called my "re-gift box".
  • I very rarely buy gifts for someone before the day before or day of the event. There's still time.?

  • Girl my baby shower is Thursday and there are only 3 things off it! I'm in the same boat!
  • or people have purchased things and not had them taken off the registry-which happens quite often to be honest
  • Only 3 things had been marked off our registery when I went back and looked after the shower, even though we got nearly everything off of it.  A lot of people told me they simply forgot about bringing a barcode to scan or forgot to have it scanned at the register.  Not everybody is as concerned about marking items off the registry as we who created them are.
  • You definitely still have time!

I didn't get much off my registry, maybe 10 things total from both showers and that includes the "big stuff" our parents bought. We still feel very grateful for what we got but it was a little shocking, I'm such a registry shopper I was surprised more people didn't buy off it.

    This.

  • I am the same as most of these girls, I buy shower gifts the day before or the day of. SO there is still plenty of time. But at the same time I completely agree with you! While I am grateful that people buy me something, I purposely put stuff on my registry in all price points because I know that some people can't afford a lot. And the stuff on my registry is the stuff we need and want. I picked certain things for a reason!

This happened to me.  I got a TON of clothes but there still wasn't a lot marked off of the registry.  Don't worry too much.  We got a lot of gift cards too.  You'll be surprised what you'll get the day of.

  • I know how you feel...my shower was Sunday. I got a lot of really cute things, but hardly anything from my registry.....it sucks feeling a bit let down when people have been so kind.  Sad

  • My shower is on Saturday and there really isn't much stuff off my registry yet.  I think like pps said, people like to shop last minute.  I realized last weekend that most people probably weren't going to go out in the after Thanksgiving mess to shop for a shower gift.

My mom has also been hinting to me that a lot of people are getting gift cards.

  • Relax. I'm sure everyone is waiting until the last minute.
  • I had two showers with about 30 people each....we got a total of 3 things off our registries!  Most people bought clothes...

  • just because there are only 4 items from your registry doesnt mean anything...yet. Some people forget that they have to hand the papers to the cashier when they check out and others buy gifts just before the shower...procrastinators! (I'm one of them). I'm usually shopping either the day before or the day of a shower. Ooops.

Stop stalking your registry!! you really never know what you might end up with!

  • I totally understand. I have 3 showers (Fri, Sat, Sun), and so far 1 item has been checked off. I feel very blesses no matter what I get. Although I still feel super irritated with myself for feeling disappointed we are not getting what we "need". Oh well...
  • Well I know that you registered at probably 1-3 locations......but that doesn't mean that guests can't purchase those items at different places as well. Some of the real basic items like bottles and onesies can be found quite a few places. So though you don't see the registry being used may not necessarily mean the essential items are not being purchased. Also, I come from a family where they never use/used registries.....I didn't really know about them till I was an adult. Seriously, I know sooooo many people that get invited to weddings and showers and never think to ask where the couple is registered at....they just think they know what you will need and like and then go buy it. Don't fret yet! you still may get the things you need and want....and if not you can always return them right?
  • Like people said, a lot of people will shop last minute. We got some things off our registry, but also a lot of things not on it. Also, unlike some of the pps, we did NOT get very many giftcards at all. It sucks, but for some reason people don't think about you needing the necessities when you're having a baby - they'd rather get you the cute stuff.

Oh, and I totally disagree with the first response that said you are being a b!tch. I don't think it's being b!tchy at all to want things you registered for!

  • Things go last minute and you have to rememeber most people were getting ready for Thanksgiving last week and most likely avoided shopping over the weekend because of black friday.
  • God, isn't it the worst?!  And to boot, I used a registry that updates *right away* and i still got duplicates.  Gr! So barely anything from the registry, and I still had to exchange some of that stuff!   And SIXTY-FIVE outfits, 8 receiving blankets, about a dozen bibs.  Sigh....i had to waddle into quite a few stores and exchange stuff.  I received a few gift cards and a couple of checks, but the majority of items were def clothes.  Another pet peeve: i would register for x brand, and the person would buy me y brand and check it off my registry.  I am very happy that people overall were generous and I was able to get quite a few things from my registry after the exchanges.

    GL with your shower!

  • I checked my registry the night before my shower and only 2 things (small things!) were shown as being purchased. I freaked out thinking that A: no one was going to show up to my shower, or B: that I was going to get all clothes..  The next day at my shower I got 90% of the stuff off my registry at the shower. Some people shopped that morning, but mostly it was because the employees at BRU didn't bother to take the items off my list!

  • I felt the same way but a lot of people stopped and bought stuff on the way to the shower.  And some forgot to take things off the registry or bought something in a different color or style so it didn't get marked off.  We have had to buy some stuff on our own but not how much I was assuming when looking at my regisrty before the shower.  We also took some stuff back that we didn't really need so we could get stuff we would use more often.  Good luck- hope you get tons of goodies!
